(Hailey's POV)
It's lunchtime now, and we're sitting at our table. The weirdest thing - Jake CHOSE to sit next to Zander. Damn... I gave him this idea that they're like... that! Ugh. "Hailey," Milly yells into my ear. "Huh," I say. She whispers, "You did it!" "Did what?" "You broke Jake!" "How?" "Don't you see him?!" I look over at Jake. Oh God... he's being all flirty with Zander.
He's got his arm wrapped around Zander, and Zander either doesn't notice or doesn't care, because he's just reading his book. Jake looks at the book and whispers, "Whatcha reading?" Zander sighs, "It's called Old Yeller! Ever hear of it - or are you too busy trying to get my attention?" Wow. He doesn't tell me what he's reading.
The whole table is staring him. "You read classics," Milly yells in shock. Zander scoffs, "Well maybe I do... what's your point???" He's clearly not looking for anymore attention, because he turns back to his book. Jake sighs. "Bit of a bad mood," he asks. Zander flips a page and yells, "No!!! Yeller's dead!!!" He closes the book hardly. "This is why I HATE books with dogs," he shouts.
The whole lunch room is staring at him. He sets the book down and exclaims, "UGHHHHH!!! I HATE THIS SCHOOL!!!" He storms off, followed by Jake yelling, "Zander, wait!" "He gets THIS upset over a dumb book," Milly says. "It's probably more than that," Sean says, "And for the record, books are not dumb."
