All this prophecy nonsense is driving me crazy. I need some quiet. And not some immerse-myself-in-a-book-to-keep-me-sane quiet. But some actual quiet. Since the Athena cabin is constantly being used for architectural planning or some other kind of study, I had to find a different place.
The lake is quiet. I walk there.
I see Will and Delia sitting by the lake. I walk up to them.
"Hey, Delia. Hey, Will." He acknowledges me with a nod.
"Hi Sophie!" Delia exclaims. "We're discussing my vision. Want to join us?"
I nod. It wasn't quiet, but it sure was fun to talk to my friends. Plus, it was by the lake and was still peaceful if not quiet.
They fill me in.
"Hey, look. It's Kora," Will grumbles as she walks up to us, but I swear I didn't see his lips move.
"Delia!" Kora jogs up to us. She acknowledges me with a nod. "Is it true that you had a vision too?"
"Yeah. Wait... You had one too?!"
"Yep. And I think they are connected. Will told me that yours was basically the same as mine. So. I think we need to go on a quest together."
"Ooooh yes! That would be so fun! Though we would need three people for a quest, right? So who would be the third?? OOOOOH MAYBE YOU'RE A DAUGHTER OF APOLLO LIKE ME YOU HAVE VISION POWERS I CAN HAVE SMALL VISIONS SOMETIMES OH THAT WOULD BE SO FUN LET'S GO TO MY CABIN AND SEE!!!"
Delia walks away, discussing prophecies with Kora.
That Delia. She has no consideration for my feelings.
"At this point, I'm the only one who hasn't gotten a fancy vision or prophecy," I grumble.
Will laughs. "Maybe you could start with asking Nico about what to do, even though you didn't have a vision. He knows a lot about prophecies."
I nod. "Yeah, I'll do that."
He freezes. "What did you just say?"
"I said I would talk to Nico. Like, what you just said...?"
He shook his head. "I... never said that. Not out loud." He gasps. "Can you- Can you hear me?"
"Uhh... yeah. Of course I can. You can hear me, right?"
Will is shaken. "I... can hear you verbally. But you can hear me in ways I can't."
I pause. "Wait... Are you saying-"
"I'm saying you can read minds, Sophie. As a daughter of Athena, you have been given a power that only nineteen have had before in documented history. Sophie Wood, you have been given the power to read minds."
I am thoroughly confused. "Why haven't I developed it before now? I've known I was a daughter of Athena for almost three years now. I'm turning 12 soon. Why not when I was nine, or before that?"
Will sighs. "I don't know. But... Chiron might."
