Author's POV
Ahana heard her father's urgent plea as he impatiently urged her to hasten for school, his tone laced with the anxiety of being late for work. "Coming!" she called, hastily sliding into her shoes, her morning routine marked by perpetual tardiness.
Mumma's familiar admonition lingered in the air. "Ahu, you're always late. Try to get up early," she chided, her eyes carrying both exasperation and affection. Adhyaksh, Ahana's younger brother, received his essentials amidst the morning chaos.
"Hurry up, children, we don't have enough time," Papa emphasized, his impatience growing.
"Bye, Mum," Ahana rushed out, trying to ease her mother's concerns. "Don't worry, Mumma, I'll take care of myself."
At school, relief washed over Ahana as she managed to arrive on time. The wait to submit the forms stretched, each passing minute intensifying her anxiety about choosing between science and humanities. Her heart, torn between the two, grappled with the uncertainty of her future.
Number 25, Ahana Sharma, please come," echoed the teacher's call.
"Yes, ma'am," Ahana responded confidently, her nerves hidden beneath a poised exterior.
After the form check, the teacher directed Ahana to her class, XI F, room no 13. The labyrinth of unfamiliar corridors tested her navigation skills."This is so confusing," Ahana mumbled, unsure which way to go. Accidentally entering a classroom, she collided with a boy, sparking an unwarranted confrontation.
"Watch where you're going, girl!" he sneered, igniting a chorus of reactions from onlookers.
"Sorry," Ahana offered, attempting to diffuse the situation.
"Your sorry means nothing to me," he taunted, reveling in the attention.Unbeknownst to Ahana, her cousin Aradhya swooped in, rescuing her from the troublesome encounter.
"Ahana, what are you doing here?" Aradhya exclaimed, the surprise evident in her voice.Ahana apologized for the oversight, and Aradhya, in turn, invited her to sit together. The drama unfolded by the troublemaker was pushed aside as they immersed themselves in catching up.
As Aradhya leaned in, a mischievous glint in her eye hinted at a secret. "You're lucky to meet him on your first day," she whispered mysteriously. Ahana, feigning disinterest, responded, "Tell me." The complexities of the new school and the intrigue of unfolding relationships set the stage for Ahana's journey into the unpredictable world of high school.
The first day at Oakridge High unfolded with a cascade of surprises, leaving Ahana caught in the whirlwind of school dynamics. The initial encounter with Vihaan, the school heartthrob and now the newly appointed council member, marked an unexpected twist in her otherwise carefully planned day.
As the class buzzed with excitement over Vihaan's selection, Ahana found herself grappling with the realization that he now held a position of influence in her academic world. Aradhya's clever maneuver to place her close to him for some romantic reconnaissance unwittingly ensnared Ahana in a web of potential complications.
Shivanaya Ma'am's departure for a meeting left the newly elected council members in charge. Vihaan, Aradhya, and Roy, guided by a sense of responsibility, filed out of the room, leaving the remaining students under the watchful eye of Seema. Ahana, however, sat in quiet contemplation, her mind racing with the implications of Vihaan's newfound authority.
The half-day provided a temporary reprieve, and Ahana found herself heading home with a mix of relief and lingering uncertainty. The echo of Vihaan's husky voice and the memory of Aradhya's secret whispered in the air, leaving her to navigate the complexities of high school life
the reluctance to be drawn into the orbit of a notorious troublemaker and the intrigue sparked by the enigma that was Vihaan. Little did she know that the chapters of her high school journey had only just begun, with each page holding the promise of new revelations, unexpected connections, and perhaps, a deeper understanding of the complexities of love and friendship in the corridors of Oakridge High.........................................................................
