Kendall
I groaned as I could hear my child calling for me in the next room over.
I don't know why I expected to sleep in when I knew he was an early bird. Today was my day off from school and needed the rest for how busy I've been this week. On top of that finals were next week so I had been trying to prepare for that as well.
Having finals be in the next couple of days had me reminiscing on how fast time has been moving. On top of that, everything that had occurred over the past couple of months has been unreal.
So unreal that I honestly don't even feel like my life is real. It feels more like I'm in a movie or book.
I just find it hard for someone to have this much going on in their lives week after week. Like I know everyone's life is different and people go through various experiences, but when it happens to you it kind of throws you for a loop.
Or maybe that's just how I see things.
Getting myself out of bed I grabbed the first pair of shorts I saw and slipped them on. I picked up my phone from my bed putting it in my pocket and left for Justice's room. I carefully opened his door knowing he would be standing right behind it.
I'd hate to swing his ass across the room by opening the door too fast.
When I got a good look at him I could tell something wasn't right. His eyes were teary and puffy and as his begged for me to pick him up the whining tone of his voice hurt my heart.
"Oh no, Jay what's wrong?"
I hadn't heard him crying and immediately felt bad for how long it took for me to hear him. Scooping him up in my arms I pressed him against my chest and cuddled him. Instantly, I felt how warm his body was.
"It hurt." He pushed back from me using his index finger to point at his belly.
The last thing I needed was for him to be sick right now. I wouldn't say I'm surprised about him falling sick suddenly. There had been something going around his daycare and I'd tried to prevent him catching the bug but clearly, I was too late.
"Okay, I'm gonna make it better."
I moved us to the living room, placing him on the couch and immediately turning on Bluey for him. I knew he'd be whiny so he needed something other than me for comfort.
I'm definitely the give the kid an iPad so they'll stay quiet type of parent.
Once he was settled I moved to my parent's room, knocking on the door before getting permission to enter.
My mom was relaxing in her bed with her reading glasses on. She had her book in her hand as she turned the page of the novel she read. She was still in her sleeping clothes, headscarf on and everything so I knew she had no plans of leaving the house today.
My dad happened to be nowhere in sight.
I knocked on her door to grab her attention. She closed her book placing it beside her on the bed. "Good morning sweetheart." She smiled at me.
I walked over to her side of the bed to give her a tight hug which she returned. "Morning mama."
"You're up early. Is Justice up? We can go somewhere to grab breakfast. I have your daddy's card." She smirked doing a little dance with her shoulders.
"Actually Jay is sick. He's warm and he told me his stomach hurt so I just came to ask where we kept the medicine so I start giving him stuff."
"Oh no, did he eat something bad?" She questioned throwing her blanket back. She got out of her bed, slipping on her slides. She waved her hand in a way that said to follow her so I did.
