"I'm surprised your family don't want you back for dinner tonight." Eloise said, her head laying in her friends lap as Catherine undid the mess that was her updo from earlier.

"I know I'm such wonderful company." Catherine said sarcastically, pulling out a pin and letting the hair fall from its tight position on the Bridgerton's skull. "Apparently Cressida and the rest are having dinner with a suitor and I'm not needed."

Eloise and Catherine had stayed locked away in Eloise's room for the past few hours and not once were they disturbed as people came and went past the door. They can see you at dinner, Eloise had said earlier, I want you all to myself for now.

"Well good cause you're needed here." Eloise exclaimed, smiling up at the blonde above her. "You were always needed, it wasn't the Bridgerton's without you. I had to put up with Colin for years."

"Well I'm not going anywhere anytime soon."

"Until you find yourself a husband." Eloise said with a groan, slipping from her bed as her blue dress swished against her legs, pacing back and forth all of a sudden. "Why must we all find husbands so desperately? I'm perfectly happy her with you!"

"As am I." Catherine said. "But I would be a little happier with Pen and maybe some food."

"Well you'll see Pen tomorrow if we can get her out of the clutches of her wicked mother and those trollops she calls sisters." Eloise said, rolling her eyes at the mention of the Featheringtons. "But food, is another matter entirely-"

At that, the bell for dinner rang and Eloise's eyes lit up.

"Perhaps the Cowper's are magic!"

The girls had changed earlier, Eloise into a simple light blue dress which she was particularly fond of and Catherine into pretty light violet dress with white detailing and her in a half up half down style as her long golden curls fell to her lower back.

"Of course you got pretty." Eloise grumbled as they walked arm in arm. "When I go to the countryside, I merely get the flu."

"I look exactly the same." Catherine said, rolling her eyes at her friend who snorted.

"Yeah, cause you were always pretty."

Catherine could not respond as they had reached the doors of the Dining Hall. The two manservants told them that the rest of the Bridgerton's were already seated before they opened the doors for the pair.

And they were met with particularly ungentlemanly and unladylike gaping mouths.

"Mama, I've seen a ghost." Benedict exclaimed, eyes latched on Catherine's grinning face.

"Eloise, I do believe I've missed my funeral." Catherine said mockingly as she turned to the girl. "But I suppose moving in with your grandmother is as good as death to your brother, yes?"

"Oh yes, but don't be cruel, Cat." Eloise said teasingly. "Benedict barely knows what funeral means!"

Catherine merely laughed before hearing the creek of a chair being pouched back quickly and two arms wrapped around her waist, just reaching her shoulder in height.
