"Aren't the races just wonderful? Better than those books you say you read sure." Lord Corson stated, his arm hooked in Catherine's as they made their way though the crowds.

"I much prefer actually riding the horses, my Lord." Catherine responded, attempting to keep an even tone at the slight to her beloved hobby of reading. "I can never seem to find a way to entertain myself at the races."

"Well then we must find a way to entertain you then, Miss Cowper." Lord Corson said good-naturedly, as if he didn't care what she had to say as long as people saw the diamond of the season on his arm.

It was infuriating.

"Of course, my lord." Catherine said stiffly, feeling someone eyes on her and turning her head slightly to meet the intense stare of Anthony Bridgerton surrounded by his brothers. And Colin.

"Do excuse me, my Lord, but I see a friend I have not seen in a very long time. Do give me a moment." Catherine said, unable to help the smile on her face as she left Lord Corson's side without another word and rushed as elegantly as she could towards the Bridgerton brothers. "Colin!"

"There's the ray of sunshine I missed so very much!" Colin exclaimed, embracing the girl as he saw her, a wide smile on his face. "How we managed without you, I have no idea."

"Neither do I." She teased. "Although I see you managed to grow an impressive sort of facial hair there, is such a thing legal in England?"

"Oh hush." Colin said with a laugh as Benedict himself chuckled at that, a soft smile on Anthony's face at the interaction. Glad to see her happier than he found her this morning.

"Pardon me, gentleman." Lord Corson interrupted, having seemingly caught up with the woman he was escorting that day. He did not look pleased. "I believe it is time for Miss Cowper and I to find our seats."

"That's actually what I was thinking." Anthony said, a tight smile on his face as he looked at the man who had stolen away Catherine from him. "I shall join you both."

Before Corson could speak, Catherine interrupted quickly.

"That would be lovely, Anthony." She said, a smile on her face at the idea of not having to entertain this man any further. "Wouldn't it be, Lord Corson?"

"Yes." He said tensely. "Quite lovely."

Before anything else could occur, Anthony offered Catherine his arm and she took it quite happily. Waving goodbye over her shoulder to Benedict and Colin, she allowed the Viscount to escort her to their seats as Corson followed behind dejectedly.

"She has him wrapped around her finger." Colin said, impressed by the girl as per and Benedict smiled.

"Yes." He said, a bright grin on his face. "Isn't it wonderful?"

"Lord Bridgerton." Cressida Cowper greeted the group icily as her eyes lay on her sister being escorted by the one man she didn't want her to be escorted by. "A pleasure to see you again."

"Indeed." Anthony said, stepping aside so Catherine could take her seat before not so subtly stepping forward to sit beside her as Corson also attempted to do so. Cressida seemed to attempt to begin a conversation with the Viscount but he very quickly cut her off by questioning her sister instead. "You used to enjoy riding, didn't you Catherine?"
