"I was not aware there was a ball this evening?" Anthony stated, taking in the sight of his mother and siblings dressed in their finest to leave the Bridgerton house.
"It's more of a soiree, dear, did you not receive an invitation from the Cowper's footman?" Violet asked, grabbing her gloves as Colin and Eloise waited at the door. Anthony furrowed his brow.
"Ah, the soiree is at Cowper house." He said, understanding who of course did not want him there. "I believe I am not the Cowper's favourite person as of right now."
"Can you blame them?" Violet said with a small, sardonic chuckle as she left a wide eyed son to go with her other children.
"What?"
"Cressida Cowper has been after you since her very first season. She and her mother are horribly manipulative and what makes it worse, Cat wants a love match." Violet explained, walking back up to her son. "Will you be able to provide a love match for our Cat?"
Anthony was silent at that.
"Then, even if was looking out for the best for Cat unlike the Cowper's, I wouldn't invite you either." Violet said, seeing her son's jaw tense. "Perhaps Cat's other suitors can provide her such a thing. I hear some are reading poetry. There is a lesson here for you somewhere Anthony, I only hope that this time you manage to learn it."
At that, Violet turned and her two other children managed to quickly while the entertained expressions off their faces as their mother hurried them off into the carriage, leaving Anthony in the hall wondering what he was supposed to do.

Catherine strode through the halls of the Cowper house, her light blue dress swishing against her legs as she made her way to the room where many suitors from noble families and those families themselves were waiting for her sister and herself.
She was dreading it.
As she turned a corner, she noticed Cressida stood before a mirror, standing sideways and desperately attempting to suck in her stomach as she tightened the ribbon. Managing to do so, Cressida studied herself in the mirror before noticing her sister behind her in the reflection.
"What are you looking at?" She hissed at her sister, who merely took a deep breath as she walked up to her.
"You look lovely tonight, Cressida." Catherine said simply, standing beside her sister as the two looked into the mirror. "Lord Bridgerton is very lucky."
Cressida seemed taken aback by the display of kindness from her younger sister who, usually, other than staying silent as Cressida spoke, would show a kind of indifference which Cressida usually preferred to Catherine speaking. But this wasn't... terrible.
"You don't look horrible either." Cressida settled on saying, although finding herself incapable of adding one last thing as she walked away. "And yes, Lord Bridgerton is very lucky. And perhaps even Lord Featherington."

"Was this your idea?" Eloise whispered to her friend, who sat beside her, eyes wide after watching a man simply prance about in front of them for the past ten minutes as though it was talent.
