The sound of the wind rumbled through the home made wood curtains. I opened my eyes ever so slowly and took a deep breathe. I had to recall all that has happened to me in this one week. Doesn't seem like an average life compared to a normal nine year old's. I didn't know my parents, I had no friends and I had no money.
"Easy there boy" exclaimed an unfamiliar voice.
I jumped up out of my bed and I took notice of the fact that I was wearing clothes completely out of my usual style. It was more like a cloak or a baggy set. It was very roomy and spacious. I walk to the door and look out to find an old man.
"That must be him... ummm, excuse me, are you the man with powers like mine?" i politely asked.
He was playing with a small fragile Yorkie.
"Calm down Chelsea... Finally you're awake. You're the second idiot to ever climb up here. My name is Shino. From my understanding you are Neji right?" he didn't confirm my question but I went along.
"Yes, I am. Second? I thought no one else made it up here?" I asked out of confusion.
"Well of course, I was the first" he gave me a wink and laughed.
"So, let me take a guess, you want me to train you?"
"How did you know?" I asked shockingly.
"John didn't tell you that he knows me? The one who is usually at the baseball park?" he asked partially confused.
It had just occurred to me that I never asked for his name or how he knew about Master Shino. Shino explained to me of how he first met John.
"I think it was back when we were way younger, when the amount of people with powers were rare. I was working as a special agent, and he was appointed under me. He admired me. He was always there to back me up. He even saved me once or twice in dreadful situations. John is my best friend and will always be but there was a time when all that could've changed. I was planning on quitting because of how twisted the government was. I discovered the truth about our powers and I was gonna fight against them. Unfortunately John had to support his family and as much as i begged him to help he had to refuse. He told me he would if he could but he wouldn't be able to get money if he did. So I decided to flee. I was not going to defeat them, the chances of me doing so were slim to none on my own. I regret that so much..."His face got so serious"I was caught on film last meeting up with John. They began to interrogate him for information on my location to terminate me before I revealed what i discovered. They would use any method and eventually they involved his wife and daughter. They sat him down, cuffed him to the chair, and held a knife to both his wife and daughter. But what they didn't know was-" he began to tear up"Was that he knew nothing of where I was at. Meanwhile I was gonna pay a visit to his house and saw the knocked down furniture, and broken glass. I knew what it meant and took off to the base. I made it to the base and the alarms went off, but I ran past the guards and kicked down the interrogation room door. There was blood on the floor pouring towards me. John's wife was on the ground with a slit throat... she was dead. I jumped towards the man who did it and punched him in the face. He fell back and the other special agents held me down. He looked me in the eye, at John, and walked toward John's daughter, the girl I treated as my own niece. I cried, I begged him to stop. Poor John was devastated by his wife's death. I heard a whisper 'Help me...Dad, Uncle Shino, I don't want to di-" He slit her throat right in front of me. John was in tears. I was broken, I went out of control, I snapped and I felt a surge of energy flow through me. I grabbed John, broke his cuffs, and escaped. And just like you, we ended up in that same baseball field. I thought for sure he would hate me. I caused his family's death. But he forgave me. I owe that man my life. He is my only true friend. They tracked us down years later but in that time we were training. They couldn't touch us since not all of their forces were available. We made a compromise with the government. As long as I stayed on this mountain away from everyone, and anyone, John would be allowed to live in that city. I accepted. I had to ensure his life. So anyways we communicate through telepathy so I'm kept up to date with everything"
I was amazed at what he's been through. He looked at me and told me I have a chance to destroy the government's evil twisted way that he could not speak of. "Find out for yourself, it'll be easier to understand that way." he responded when i asked him on what he discovered. Shino told me he would train me for 7 years. That would be all. I nodded my head and fell unconscious.
