The Only Map To You

Chapter 1~Kindergarden

1999, October 5, Frankville, Indiana.

I watch as the teacher puts her name on the board. I can only tell this because she said that it was her name. I am not sure what the things mean, but she says it is her name. On my first day of kindergarten, I was not to happy about it. One of the kids in my class stole the apple I picked for the teacher. It was a paper press, I think that's what my mommy said it was. We wroted her name on it as a gift, but some big bully took it from me, and acted really special as he gave it to the teacher. Ms. Vario, I think.
Later that day the same meanie came up and wanted my cookie. When I said no, he punched me and took it. I cried, and it hurt, but no one listened to me when I told Ms. Verio. She said it was not nice to tattle, and had me tell the meanie sorry. I wouldn't do it! He was a meanie, and I would not say sorry for doing nothing. They called my mommy, but she couldn't come, and don't have no daddy, so I was stuck with the teacher.

A play time, I had to sit at the wall. The meanie came up again, and this time he wanted my tiny tiger. I kept him in my pocket for luck and comfort, but he was not allowed out, and the luck did nothing. I wouldn't give it to him, so he hit me again! It hurt so much, I couldn't stand back up. He took my tiger, and kicked me. I cried and cried, and he laughed.

The next day was no better. I also knew better than to bring more stuff, so I didn't. He tried to hit me again at play time, and I ducked like a ninja. I hit him back, and he ran off to the teacher. I got in trouble for hitting, and had to say sorry.

The next day, I saw him try to take some thing from a girl in my class. I ran up, and pushed him. Together, we took out the meanie, and told the teacher. This time, he said sorry to us, and Ms. Verio said sorry to me. The meanie had to give the stuff back to us. The girl was Erica. I think I might risk getting cooties to be friends with her.
