—-"You're an anomaly!! You're the original anomaly!! You don't belong here!!"
Miguel flooded Miles every thought. Miguel's words, even after so many months, still bore holes in his heart.
Miles breathed in again and again until his lungs were full of air. Wetness prickled his eyes. He tried to hide it. As he walked out of the office. A hand resting on his chest. He could feel the rapid beating of his heart. He wasn't okay.
He needed support, so he leaned against the closet wall with the back of his head against it as he closed his eyes, hoping to block out the images of Migeul present in his mind.
There was no hiding from him. In his dreams—nightmares, the Vampire was always present.
But he was glad he listened to his own advice and went to the therapist. It would've been funny if he didn't, since just a few months ago he was telling his dad that men of his generation neglected their mental state.
And thanks to that things, we're getting better. So he thought being close to him wasn't gonna have much of an impact on him—bad decision.
And he was now suffering the consequences.
"You're an anomaly!! You're the—"
With his breathing slowing down, the words slowly died down too. He could feel the ghost of tears in his eyes. He hated it. He hated feeling like this.
He drew in another breath. One that was calmer than the rest. He felt better.
He opened his eyes slightly at the familiar voice and saw Hobie, who was passing by, standing there looking at him. "You okay, mate?" He questioned scanning miles.
That was his question, but judging from the way that ball of sunshine's face was clouded, He wasn't okay.
"Yea..." His words died in his throat as his eyes fell on Gwen, who stood beside Hobie, her arms crossed and a perplexed look on her face.
They were probably returning from a mission. Miles straightened himself. A chill creeped over him like cold fingers on his body. As usual, he sucked in another breath, calming himself down.
His relationship with Margo had taken a toll on his relationship with Gwen. He felt guilty at first cuz even if she told him they were better as friends, he was the one who promised her that he'd always like her.
So in hope of not making things worse, he had convinced Margo to keep things low for a while, but two teenagers in love—believed they were in love, could only last so long without being all touchy with each other, so yeah, that plan failed in less than two days.
"I'm cool." He answered.
Gwen bit her lips, thinking. When she finally reached a decision, she sighed, turning fully to Miles, all her attention on him. "Can we talk?" She asked. And yeah, yes.
He wanted to talk to her. She was his friend and his crush a few months ago. He still gets a little nervous when she's close to him, but recently that nervousness has turned into fear or awkwardness. He didn't like that.
But
at the same time
He could still feel that little bit of fear prickling at the base of his spine. His anxiety was spiking. He was sensitive to every sound. Everything seems closer. Too close for his comfort, and he didn't want that to affect their chat. He had been looking forward to that chat for a while.
"Miles?" She asked again. She could tell she was pushing. She didn't want to; she could tell he wasn't okay. But her feelings were all over the place. She felt sick. Hurt and betrayed, but didn't know who to blame.
Her options were herself or Miles.
And did that the last few weeks she had been blaming herself, now all she could do was either resolve it or blame the brown-eyed teen.
"Ah, yeah." He quickly caught himself. "I mean, no, not right now."
She frowned.
But the teen wasn't done. He sucked a breath in, looking at her in the eyes. "Please just..just not now." He pleaded. Getting through her.
Gwen's eyes softened at the please part. He really wasn't okay. It took everything in her not to ask what was wrong. As her folded arms once again dropped to stay by her side.
"....Alrigh'," She didn't press on any further or be invasive, so she nodded and walked away.
Miles sighed a sigh of relief. Content that this ended without any arguments.
