TEEN IDLE - MARINA AND THE DIAMONDS

2.

Sage eventually decided it was time for her to leave the grill. She left the restaurant, Matt tagging along by her side. As the two turned down a small alley, Sage let out a small groan and stumbled against the stoned wall of the alley, clutching the side of her head. She grimaced. It hurt like crazy. This is what her ex-lover had done to her. He made sure that she could be able to feel every single memory of the two shared as one.

Matt tilted his head in confusion and placed his hand on her shoulder. "Sage?" He questioned softly, and she slumped down to the ground as a flashback forced its way into her mind. One that she knew she would regret letting in, the day they met. By this time, Sage was breathing heavily but she allowed no words to escape past her mouth.

"Who's that?" The handsome vampire, Damon Salvatore, questioned his brother, Stefan as he gestured towards a beautiful girl walking down the staircase of the Mikaelson house. It was New Year's Eve. The ballroom was festive and decorated with candles lit upon the walls, making the entire room full of tranquility.

"Elena's new human friend she met through Matt... I believe her name is Sage Martin," Stefan replied, fixing the collar of his suit.

"I see... Hold this, will you?" Damon handed Stefan his glass filled with champagne and walked off towards Sage who was standing at the entrance of the room, glancing around as if she had never been at the Mikaelson mansion before. Damon casually approached her and cleared his throat.

"Hello. My name is Damon. Damon Salvatore," he greeted, and Sage hesitantly looked up at the vampire before her.

"Sage Martin," she responded.

"I haven't seen you around. What brings you down to Mystic Falls?"

"I moved here and that is when met Elena."

"I just wanted to say that you look absolutely stunning this evening, Sage."

"I could say the same thing about yourself," Sage replied. Damon gave her a slight grin.

"Why thank you. Anyway, would you care to accompany me to dance?"

"I would love to."

The two walked out to the center of the room, Damon placing his hand on the small of her back as the strode along the floor. Sage had her hands resting upon his shoulders as they danced, Damon keeping her body close as they moved together slowly. Their hearts beat together as one, their breaths turning into one, and they already knew that this night would be only the beginning of a wonderful bond.

"Sage? Sage!" A voice shouted at her. Sage was brought back into reality when Matt took a hold of her and began to shake his friend's shoulders. She stared up at Matt and her eyes widened with fear.

"Are you all right?"

"Y-yeah, thank you. Now, I think I best be off... I think I can make my way back to my apartment from here." Sage looked up at Matt, who gave her the nod of his head. Before departing from her dear friend, Sage gave him a light side hug, and Matt placed a light kiss on the top of her head.

"I'll see you later, Sage."

"See you." Sage smiled and they parted their own ways. Sage headed back to her home while Matt wandered off somewhere else to tend to his own doings. The vivid red-haired girl arrived at her apartment just as her phone rang. She rushed over to the phone and picked it up, answering with a small, "Hello? This is Sage Martin."
