A THOUSAND YEARS - CHRISTINA PERRI
14.
Four months had passed. Sage forgave Klaus, but Elijah never forgot. Baby Hope was aspiring with the help of the Mikaelson family, Camille, and even Sage joined as one of Hope's protectors. Damon moved on. Stefan and Elena continued their life together while Damon third-wheeled and drank all the bourbon he could find. Sage and Elijah promised each other forever while trying to make sure that Klaus didn't try to terrorize the city. It took a while, but Klaus finally accepted Sage as he deemed her not a threat to him or his family.
It was getting colder as the seasons changed from summer, to fall, and to winter. Sage Martin always enjoyed the winter. She never really had a particular reason for it, she just enjoyed it. She stepped out of the bar after a long day of work on a chilly Saturday evening. She had gotten a job at the very same bar that Camille worked in. She offered to take the night shift in order to let Camille relax a bit. After closing up the bar, she locked the doors and traipsed back towards the abattoir.
When Sage entered the Mikaelson home, she was greeted by Elijah who pulled her into a tight hug, spun her around, and pressed a swift kiss to her cheek. Sage had been working non-stop every day of the week and Elijah felt like he had to make it up to her somehow. Rebekah too thought that she was working too much and too hard.
"How was work, my dear?" Elijah asked Sage as he set her back down on the ground.
"It was good. So many people wanted the gumbo. Man, Camille was right," Sage responded and Elijah let out a low chuckle.
"I think I know what you two need," a voice spoke up from behind the two. Sage and Elijah glanced over their shoulders, and there stood Rebekah who held two bottles of champagne in either hand.
"God bless you, 'Bekah."
Rebekah led Sage and Elijah into the living room, letting herself plop down into the armchair while Sage dragged herself to the couch. Elijah took a seat next to her and popped open the cork of the bottle, pouring himself a drink along with Sage. She thanked him softly and took a sip, letting out a sigh in relief. It had been a stressful day. Annoying and rude customers. She was glad to finally be home.
"When's the last time you had a day off this week?" Elijah asked, turning to look at Sage as he took a sip of his drink.
"Oh, um--"
"Never." Rebekah finished her sentence. "What I'm saying is that you should take some time off. Relax a bit. You work too much."
"I guess you're right, Rebekah."
"Sister, I apologize, but could Sage and I share some time alone for now?" Elijah spoke up, saving Sage and himself from the deafening silence.
"Sure thing," Rebekah answered, and finished her drink and taking a bottle with her. She gave Sage a light wink of her eye and walked off, leaving Sage and Elijah alone. He finished his drink as well, and Sage set hers down on the coffee table before them.
Without hesitation, Elijah gently took Sage's chin into his hand. He turned her face to give her a quick peck on her lips. Before he could pull back from the soft and gentle kiss, Sage deepened it. Slowly, she ran her hand up to his arm, pausing momentarily at the top of his shoulder. His hands moved down to Sage's hips, and he pulled her into his lap so that she straddled him.
He took her lower lip in between his teeth gently and she let out a small moan. She ran her fingers through his hair, bringing Elijah even closer to her. He opened his mouth allowing Sage's tongue to enter and move her tongue against his. After exploring his mouth thoroughly, Sage pulled herself away from the kiss.
Elijah hated that she had stopped, so his lips turned downwards into a small frown, letting out a small noise of complaint. Sage laughed at that and, began to trail kisses across his jaw and down towards his neck. She spent extra time kissing and sucking at Elijah's neck, earning a low growl from him.
"I can completely agree with my sister. I think you need more days off," Elijah replied with a small grin when Sage stopped and looked down into his eyes. She let out a light giggle and buried her face into his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart. They spent the rest of their night lying along with each other until Sage fell asleep and Elijah carried her up into her room.
"Goodnight, Sage Martin. I love you," Elijah said, standing at the entrance of her room after tucking her into bed. He smiled to himself and closed the door halfway behind him.

Sage sat in the living room, her eyes locked on the window. Klaus entered the living room to tend to the fireplace and cocked an eyebrow at her.
"I apologize to interrupt your... Meditation or whatever. But what exactly are you doing?"
"Waiting for it to snow already, it's been days, no weeks, and it hasn't even snowed yet," Sage replied casually, glancing over her shoulder. She watched as Klaus knelt down to the fireplace, placing more wood inside of it.
"Well then. You keep watching, love. I assure you it's not going to snow any time soon. It's Lousiana." Sage rolled her eyes at that and shook her head from side to side.
"You don't know that," a voice, which belonged to Elijah Mikaelson, spoke. Klaus turned around and gave his brother the roll of his eyes.
"Brother."
"Hello, Niklaus," Elijah said with a small smile and walked past Klaus over towards Sage. He knelt down beside her and wrapped a beautiful, handmade quilt around her petite body. Sage glanced upwards at Elijah with a small smile.
"I'm not that cold, 'Lijah," Sage admitted.
"I know you aren't, love. But by the looks of it, it doesn't seem like you'll be leaving that window any time soon."
"Thank you," she said.
An hour passed and Sage had given up on the chance of snowing, deciding to do something more useful with herself. She sat in her bedroom with a blanket wrapped around her loosely as she read through one of her favorite books. She glanced out the window, then back down at her book. But wait! She looked back out the window and there it was. Small snowflakes fell down to the ground, and Sage's eyes widened at the sight of that. She jumped out of the bed and headed down the stairs into the living room quickly, overly excited to break the news to everyone.
When she arrived, she stopped in her tracks at the sight. Klaus Mikaelson stood at the very same window she had hours ago, cradling baby Hope in his arms. He pointed out the window and smiled down at his daughter. "That's snow," he said to the little girl he held in his arms. "It's a beautiful thing. Winter is definitely coming."
Sage's heart melted and she carefully approached them. She stood at Klaus' side, and she turned to look over at Sage.
"Wow. Klaus and family reunions? That's something new," Sage said with a laugh. Have you changed your mind about the snow though?" she asked him, looking out the window.
"I think I maybe, just maybe, might have," Klaus replied with, a small smile dancing upon his lips. They stood by the window and watched the snow until the two other Mikaelsons showed up. Elijah walked up to Sage and wrapped an arm around her.
"Look who was wrong all this time, brother," Elijah snickered, nudging Klaus' side only to annoy him.
"Shut it, Elijah, and let me father my child," Klaus replied, rolling his eyes and Sage laughed at him. She offered to hold Hope for Klaus for a bit and he let her. Elijah smiled at Sage as she took the baby into her arms. Sage glanced down at Hope, who had taken her index finger into her tiny, soft hand. She directed her attention back towards the window and smiled. There the three Originals stood, Sage along both their sides.
They stood together as one. As a family.
