School

Someone knocked at my door, waking me up. I groggily sat up and slowly rubbed the sleep from my eyes, when I realised what today was. Today was my first day at a new school. It was the same school that Xander, Xavier and Noah attended, and the same school that the other boys had graduated from. We got to wear casual clothes, which was a bit of a shock since my last school had a strict uniform policy. I had to pick out clothes that didn't

I had picked out my outfit the day before, black leggings with a cropped cream sweater, and a jacket and my favourite, scruffy pair of converse shoes. I had also packed all the stuff I needed for school in my backpack and charged my phone so everything was ready.

As I was standing in front of the mirror, getting ready, I started to feel really nervous, I could practically feel the butterflies in my stomach writhing around. I could barely survive a day at school in Australia with all my friends and sometimes extra help from teachers. How was I supposed to survive a full day, never mind the next three years or so at a new school with nobody I knew? I hadn't told any of my brothers about my dyslexia yet, so the school wouldn't know about it either, meaning I was in for a difficult time unless I told someone.

"Lillia, you ready yet?" Somebody yelled, banging on my door. "Noah's gonna drive us there and he's not waiting for more than five minutes"

"Yep, coming," I responded. I did one last check in the mirror and picked up my bag from the floor. Xander was standing outside my room, his bag slung across one shoulder and headphones on.

"C'mon," he said as soon as he saw me.

We walked downstairs where everyone else said goodbye to us and together we made our way to Noah's car. Inside Xavier and Noah were already there, doing something on their phones.

"You two took your time," Noah grunted as we hopped into the backseat of his car. He and Matteo both had similar cars, both were disgracefully elegant and polished.

Xander grunted in response and stared out the window as Noah pulled out of the driveway.

The school was a 20 minute drive from our house, and for most of it I looked out the window trying to memorise some of the streets. I was going to be living in this city for the foreseeable future so I should try to get to know my way around.

We pulled up to a building that had a lot of teenages milling or skulking around, you pick. There seemed to be a big main building, a field to the left of it and an area with benches and tables where lots of people were chatting to friends or hanging about.

Xander, Xavier and I hopped out of the car and Noah zoomed off to park it somewhere. Straight away, a group of boys waved to Xavier and he waved back.

"How about you take Lillia to the office little brother?" He told Xander, grinning, and ran off towards his friends, leaving me and Xander in the car park.

"Follow me," he sighed, walking towards the big doors. I shrugged my backpack on fully and followed him down the corridors, finally ending up in that antechamber space before an office room.

Xander knocked on the door.

Once the person inside told us to enter, he opened the door and walked up to the desk.

"Good morning Ms. Cameron, this is my sister Lillia," he said to a woman sitting behind the desk. She looked up over her glasses, squinting at my face. "It's her first day today"

"Ah yes, Lillia Evans, our new student," she said politely. "Welcome," She had a very stereotypical American accent, but so far seemed friendly.

"Thanks," I mumbled back.
