This can't be happening. The people I'm trying to avoid are standing right in front of me.

The Avengers.

"Dr. Banner. Hi, how are you?" I asked, putting by book down after marking my place with a folded napkin.

"Good. And yourself?" he cleaned his glasses nervously.

"Great." It sounded more sarcastic in my head.

Someone cleared their throat, making me turn my attention to the rest of the group.

"Bruce, who is this?" Steve asked.

I've read all their files on the SHIELD database so I know more about them than they do about me. They're just learning my name now.

"This is Katherine Howlett, one of my students." Dr. Banner introduced.

"You can call me Kat, you know?" I extended my hand to the Captain America. "Nice to meet you, Mr..." I trailed off, pretending not to know his name.

Good job, Kat. Play dumb.

"Steve. Call me Steve." he answered, shaking my hand.

Tony Stark suddenly slipped into the seat next to me so I was between him and the window.

"Tony Stark, but you probably already knew that." he winked at me playfully.

"Stark, she's in high school." Steve reprimanded him.

"Yeah, Stark. What about Ms. Potts?" I joked.

"So you do know me!" Tony pointed his finger at me accusingly.

"Yes," I played along. "There's an article about you in the paper every week without fail. Plus, there was a freaking building with your name on it. So, you could say I know about you, Mr. Stark."

Before Tony could say anything else I was being introduced to the rest of the group by Dr. Banner.

"This is Natasha." The fiery redhead waved at me, which I returned.

"Clint," The man who I noticed had hearing aids in his ears and stealthy eyes. He nodded at me and I did the same.

"Thor." The man with huge muscles and long blonde hair tied back in a small pony tail neatly.

"Hello friend of Dr. Banner. It is most wonderful to meet you."

He took my hand in his and kissed my knuckles, making a little blush come to my cheeks. I just prayed that the restaurant was dim enough for them not to notice.

"Um, hi." I cast a confused glance at Dr. Banner.

"He's foreign." he explained.

"Yeah, way foreign." Tony muttered, but I ignored him.

I knew Thor was from another planet and was believed to be a god. Him and his brother-

"Loki." Dr. Banner interrupted my thoughts.

My brown eyes met his green ones that twinkled with mischief.

"Hi." I extended my hand for his, which he accepted.

His hand was a mixture of coldness and something else that made goosebumps appear under my jacket. He must have felt something too, seeing as he let go of my hand as quickly as he had accepted it.

"Hello." he said.

His accent wasn't close to American like Thor's, it was more English.

"Are you here alone, Kat?" Clint asked, making me pull my eyes away from the questionable look on Loki's face.
