"My Black Rose."
Arms wrapped around my body as I stepped into the dining room for breakfast. I knew it was mother as she was the only one to get close and touch me.
"Good morning, Mother." My monotone voice caused silence in the room, and I could feel glares from some of the guards in the room.
"Come, sit, sit." She pointed to the black seat beside her big red one at the long table, and I complied.
She was only being so nice to me after the gates to Wonderland was closed, trapping her one and only daughter out, leaving me with her.
The maids set our breakfast on the in front of us, and we began to eat.
Of course, it's wonderland, so we had to have some sort of breakfast to fit its name.
My mother had some red heart pancakes covered in strawberries.
I had some black pancakes that were shaped in a rose and had dark mist wafting around it.
We only took five minutes to eat, and my mother immediately got out of her seat and went to the throne room. This left me to clean the dishes we ate out of.
Yes, the maids were afraid of everything I touched, like I had some disease or something.
I probably have one, but oh well.
I walked into the kitchen that was upside down and threw the plates into the sink. The leftover pancakes floated off the plate, and down the drain, the plates floated up too, and I began washing the dishes.
It took thirty minutes because breakfast was always big with mom's high metabolism.
"Black rose!"
That's my queue. Ever since Lizzie was gone, my mother has been depressed. So I would stand beside her throne and entertain her. Like some circus pet.
If she wasn't entertained, it was 'off with someone's head', and it wouldn't dare be me.
I walked quickly down the halls, getting some looks from guards and maids about my attire, which is SIMPLE.
I tried not to think about anything else as I closed in on the throne room doors, having to push open the heavy things myself.
I got a bit startled, seeing Alistair Wonderland and Bunny Blanc, but calming down as I knew they were up to their schemes again.
Mom didn't like seeing them in the palace and would call me or the guards to get rid of them.
"Come on." I beckoned them over to the other gates so that we could leave the palace before mom throws a bigger fit.
Bunny immediately steadied to a walk beside me while Alistair lagged behind a bit. The walk was silent as the irritation leaked from both Alistair and I for different reasons.
I was irritated at the fact of them interrupting my reading time, which started a minute ago.
Alistair, I don't know. He normally has something going on in that head of his.
We both soon reached the river that would lead to the well of wonder in the ever after world.
I stood to the side, keeping an eye on them as I normally would.
Alistair threw a stone into the water and crossed his arms. "The curse on Wonderland has made the Queen of Hearts afraid!"
"I know, Alistair." Bunny looked down at her feet in sadness before glancing at Alistair when he spoke.
"Afraid that if anything happens to upset the balance, that green encircling chaos will close in and destroy wonderland." He pointed at the big green curse that hover above us all, making me look too.
"One day, I'll help solve the riddle and lift the curse." Alistair declared, his irritation changed to determination in a heartbeat.
He leaned down to the water and gasped, making Bunny and I walk up behind him.
"I don't believe it..." Bunny stared down at the magic book of legends as it glinted in the water.
"It's the Storybook of Legends." Alistair lifted the book out of the water. "Hey, if the book is in our world, then that means...."
I also looked down at it in wonder. "Who threw it down that damn well?" No one heard me, but I didn't mind it.
I knew that the well of wonders was the only thing that wasn't closed off from wonderland. It was already dangerous to travel in, so most forgot about it.
I toned out the rest of their conversation before I was pulled along with Bunny and Alistair to the well in question.
"Now this is a riddle, and it's begging to be solved." Alistair jumped onto the well of wonders wall, Bunny pulling me along with them for some reason.
"You say that about everything." She got pulled up into Alistair's chest, and they shared a lovey-dovey gaze.
I groaned. "Why am I even here again?" I jumped into the well, hearing them follow after me.
I continued to go through pipes until I ended up on a stone platform.
I wandered around the place that had the rainbow water flowing through many different areas.
