Don't always rescue. Most hunters will camp by the chair. If saving your teammate isn't critical, focus on decoding instead. Remember, while a win is ideal, a tie is better than a loss.
If the hunter is right next to the chair, they will probably try to terror shock the rescuer and knock them down. There's a common trick many survivors use to combat this. You run up to the chair and run away repeatedly or start rescuing and stop immediately. You do this until the Hunter hits you so they can't terror shock you. While the hunter's attack cools down, you rescue them. It's like a mind game.
If the hunter is patrolling the chair's area and you're at full health, don't be afraid to run past the hunter if you need to. When they hit you, you'll get a speed boost. Go straight to the chair and rescue them using the speed boost and the time the hunter takes to recover after a hit.
Tide Turner is an important trait to have if you rescue a lot. On the persona web, it's the southernmost trait. When you have it equipped, both you and your rescued teammate will be invincible for 120 seconds after the rescue. Rescuing without Tide Turner could even end worse than not rescuing at all if you're up against a skilled hunter or the hunter has detention. If someone is in the basement chairs, don't go for the rescue without Tide Turner unless it's the only shot you have at winning.
When a teammate is down, they will begin moving through the rocket chair's stages. I've attached a screenshot of a table from the Identity V wiki below (id5.fandom.com).
If a teammate is chaired in the basement, most hunters will do one of two things. Either wait on the stairs or at the top, or wait in the basement.
If they are at the top of the stairs, they may try to hit you as you go down and again as you try to escape. One thing you could try to combat this is to start healing your teammate, which will force the hunter to go to the basement.
If they are in the basement, they are most likely aiming to terror shock. You may try the same trick above. Basement chairs are by far the most dangerous to rescue from. This is why when kiting, it's best to stay away from the basement.
If you are too far from the teammate, it may be better for you to finish decoding. If there are many cipher machines left to decode, you should not double rescue, but instead focus on decoding and have 1 person rescue.
Learn the hunters' abilities. While this is true for any aspect of the game, I've noticed it causes the most issues when survivors try to rescue. I plan to write chapters for each hunter and survivor. Alternatively, the Identity V wiki has information on each.
Body-block if possible. While no one wants to get hit, if you're at full health, it's better that you get hit than your half-health teammate that has already been chaired at least once.
The hunter has detention! It means that after the exit gates are able to be decoded, the hunter can down you in one hit for 120 seconds. When the hunter has detention and a survivor is chaired, you should leave them, especially if a win or tie is possible. Seriously, don't save them unless you absolutely have to or you have Tide Turner. You will go down too and your teammates will be mad.
I may add more in the future. If you have any corrections or additional tips, please feel free to comment.
