-•~Rose's POV~•-
All the sudden, everyone morphs into a terrifying creature. Rye a rugged black panther with demon-looking red eyes, Isla a large grizzly bear with evil green eyes, Don a large, red terrifying scorpion with black poison dripping from its stinger, Diala a white Griffon with sharp black talons and an ear-piercing squak with purple eyes, and me a dark, dark blue fish tail with filed teeth and sharp nails along with blue eyes, a siren. Then it's all gone in a flash with the hissing voice laughing sinisterly and trails off. We all have demons insde us.
"Get back here, you coward!" I yell at him, but it's too late, he's gone.
Everybody looks completely frightened to the bone. What was that? I look around and observe each one: Rye seems shocked, Don is scared and crying, Isla looks disgusted, and Diala is staring blankly off into space. What am I going to do with you all? I think to myself. Since I'm oldest, I feel like it's my responsibility to take care of everyone and make sure they are all right.
"We decided to came back as you rudely requested," the hissing voice returns along with a metallic female one by his side who then speaks, "Would you all like your memories back?"
"Sure would!" Isla shouts.
"Then you shall have them back,"
Suddenly, viles of clear liquid appear in front of us. I reluctantly pick mine up and examine its contents. "What is this?" I ask.
"Even if we told you, you wouldn't understand,"
I growl under my breath then inhale deeply. Then I swig the liquid down in one gulp and my memories come flooding back in a rampaging onslaught of horror, and I remember something about the serum I just swallowed.
~
I sneak across the black floors of the facility and hide behind one of the white walls, eavesdropping on the two main scientists, Dr. Felicia Goldman and Professor Walter Goldman. Fugitive researchers in human genetic science. They always had a dream of making humans better and more advance and try to "evolve" them, so they studied human anatomy and biology, finding out how everything in the body functioned. Eventually, they founded Super Genes, a genetic modification labratory facility for improving a human's physical and mental abilities. I overhead their conversation on sending us out into the wild in a fenced off area near the lab which is in a cave underground."We'll send them out memory wiped if the modification procedures are successful which they are sure to be because of all the tests we did on their blood, lymph nodes, and DNA samples," Dr. Goldman says to her husband.
"Yes, yes, and this serum here will bring back their wretched memories of the six years they've spent here," Professor Goldman grins, kissing his wife.
"Oh, you devil..."
I gag, about to head back to my living quarters when someone discovers me and brings me into the Modification Chamber. That's when the flashback I had happened for real.
I remember arousing being fully unconcious for a moment, but I thank God for that moment I had of conciousness to hear what they had discussed. The Goldman's were arguing with each other.
"What happened with her brother? Why does he have those abilities?" the professor shouts.
"I'm not sure! Stop yelling at me!" the doctor cries. "I don't know why he became more powerful than we intended."
"We tried to make him have each element not have spirit powers. The others were sucessful! I don't know why he failed,"
"He cannot go out into the wild, he's too dangerous,"
"We will remove him once the time comes, don't worry my dear,"
"Shall we put a poison in Rye's returning memory serum?"
"Yes, yes, that sounds good. Now, let's let them go,"
~Rye lifts the vile up to his lips when I scream, "NO!" and swat it out of his hands. The serum sizzles on the grass and evaporates into the earth. "They were going to kill you with that." I say, panting. I see the others had drank their serums and look terrified at their viles. "You guys are ok," They sigh with relief, but shriek when the memories come back. Then the doctor and the professor cry in anger at us threaten to send hunters to kill Rye one way or the next.
"But, my memories... I-"
"They'll come back. Don't worry," I smile at him. He doesn't seem reassured, so I give him a side hug.
***
Aside from Rye, the rest of us share our memories and comfort each other. "What about your parents, your families?" I ask. The three stare at me blankly.
"None of us know, I guess," Isla says.
"I didn't even know I had parents," Diala and Don say.
I guess I'm the only one with memories of my parents. I feel bad for them. No knowledge of where they came from or what their past is being so young when they were taken to the lab. Once we're outside the boundaries, our demon morphs will be gone, and we can escape this horrid place together. We will be reunited with our families...
