Beth had spent the last few weeks in a constant state of happiness and disbelief that she could land a man as sexy and successful as Ronan.
They had been hooking up consistently for some time, and spending even more than that together. They had spent entire days lounging in bed together or cuddled up watching movies and playing games. They knew each other's bodies through and through. They knew what turned each other on. They knew how to get each other in the mood, they knew how to make each other moan, they they knew the best ways to make each other come.
They had spent late nights exploring each other's limits in the sex dungeon, testing the boundaries between pain and pleasure, filling their senses to the max.
More than that, they knew each other's hearts and minds. They had shared their pasts and they shared their present. Beth knew it was only the steady passage of time that was slowing them from sharing their future. They knew each other's hopes and dreams. They knew each other's past traumas. Beth still wasn't privy to the details of Ronan's work and she knew that there were some things that were bothering him lately that he wasn't telling her, but he was no longer a complete mystery to her.
Beth knew Ronan well enough to know that there was something heavy on his mind. She had noticed it more and more in their time together over the past few weeks, and although she had refrained from pushing him for more of an answer than he was willing to give, which was nothing so far, she could feel the tension building and she was worried it may leak out to cause him more trouble than whatever it was worth. She was worried about him.
Over the past couple of weeks they had slept in their own rooms only a couple of nights. More often than not one of them would come to the other's bed if they hadn't made their way to Ronan's room together. Her favourite time of day was getting into bed with him, whether it was in a rush to take their clothes off or whether it was simply to be in bed. Their connection was strengthened every time their bodies intertwined and each time their hearts touched.
Their merging hearts was the reason Beth was becoming so concerned about Ronan. She knew he was capable and strong, but she was sensitive for him. When she could sense his thoughts were troubled and she became troubled in turn. His pain was her pain, his anxiety made her anxious to ease his nerves.
They were laying together on one of the sitting room couches, watching a movie on a huge tv. Beth wasn't watching the movie, she was watching Ronan. Ronan wasn't watching the movie, he may have been looking in the direction of the screen but Beth saw his eyes glazed over and unfocused. She knew he wasn't hearing a word of what was being said, so she decided to speak instead.
"You okay?"
Ronan looked to her and he seemed somewhat sad.
"You've asked me that every day and I always tell you I'm fine."
"You don't seem fine." Beth told him sadly.
Ronan sighed. "I don't know. I know that everything will work out how it's supposed to but-." His speech caught in his throat. Beth wrapped her arms around his tree trunk bicep reassuringly, wanting to comfort him no matter what was worrying him.
"It's okay." She said encouragingly.
"I can't lie, there's been something on my mind for a long time."
"It's okay, you can tell me." Beth almost pleaded with him, she wanted desperately to know what was wrong so she could comfort him. She hoped that talking about it would make him feel better and take some pressure off.
"I..." It was clearly something hard for him to talk about, even harder than it had been when Ronan was pouring his heart out to her about his past and his trauma. Beth kissed his shoulder and hugged him tight to let him know she was there for him no matter what it was that he had to say to her.
