Absolute Chaos

Time stretched into a surreal, slow-motion scene as Jonathan rushed toward Lila, his words ringing in my ears like a distant echo. Panic surged within me, a heavy dread settling in my chest. Instinctively, I reached for the door handle, desperate to escape, but Jonathan's grip was a vice, yanking me off balance and sending me sprawling to the ground.

His lips were moving, shaping words that I couldn't decipher. His eyes narrowed, and his eyebrows furrowed. He had a vein popping out of his neck. The sounds around me were muffled, distorted, as if I were submerged underwater.

And then, without warning, a searing pain erupted across my cheek. The impact snapped me back to reality, my vision blurring with tears that threatened to spill over. Lila's voice, a storm of accusatory and hurtful words, collided in my ears like shrapnel.

"What's wrong with you? Why would you hit her?"

"I haven't seen you in almost two years, and this is how you greet me?"

"Have you gone mad?"

The crescendo of their voices was overwhelming, their words lacerating my psyche with every syllable. The room seemed to spin around me, and a feeling of suffocation gripped my chest. The pressure built up, tighter and tighter, until it was unbearable.

"Shut up!" The scream tore from my throat, a desperate plea to silence the cacophony that was threatening to consume me.

Fury coursed through my veins, my finger jabbing towards Jonathan like an accusing dagger. "YOU!" My voice erupted in a scream, the walls seemingly trembling. "You're dating my baby sister, and you promised that no matter where I was, WE would be together!" The words tore from my throat, heavy breaths punctuating each accusation as if I were recovering from a panic attack.

Lila's voice, a constant murmur, punctuated the air before she turned her glare on me. "Stop blaming Jonathan!" She screamed back, "You were MIA for a year and a half!"

My finger shifted, now pointing directly at Lila. "And YOU claimed to love Patricia more than the world itself," I countered, my voice dropping to a quiet but biting tone, "it's only been a year and a half – where's that love now?" Each word seemed to hang in the air, laden with a bitterness that left a lingering, acrid taste in my mouth.

Jonathan's anger appeared to wane as he gazed at me with a deep frown, his voice softened as he attempted to reach out, "Imogen, just listen—""No!" I cut him off abruptly, unable to bear another moment in that room. I swung the door open, the sound of its closing echoing like a final punctuation mark.

I left in haste, making my way to my alley, the only sanctuary where I could be alone with my thoughts – and the Huntsman, the Huntsman who now has a new target.

The first thing I did when I arrived there, was start crying.

I wonder what Patricia would think of this all.

Miguel didn't show up to force me back, and I made the conscious choice not to return. The night was enveloped in an eerie stillness as I stood over my house, a seething mix of emotions churning within me.

Jonathan's fate was sealed – he wouldn't live to see another day.

Lila, my sister, would have to confront the consequences of her actions and learn from her mistakes.

Both of them would learn that the hunstman is no joke.

In the dead of night, at around 3 in the morning, I managed to slip back into my room through the window. Despite the late hour, I could still hear the faint sounds of laughter coming from the room next door. So be it.
