34. Chapter

26th March, Friday 6:06pm

"MISAAAA!!" "BABEEESSS"

The trio came running into each other's arms, laughing and hugging, scrambling words and hasty hands. It has been two months already since Misaki came back to her hometown, meeting Kaito (Y/N) for the first time in weeks, cuddling them to death.

"Aww, it's so good to see you guys again, I really missed you," she fluffed through their hair, pulling (Y/N) in to give him a kiss on the forehead," Unbelievable that you are getting older again, little birthday boy!"

(Y/N) only chuckled as he pulled away from the suffocating touch, shaking his head and pushing his hair back. "Oh stop it, I am just a few months younger than you."

And there lies the reason for her visit. Every year, without fail, (Y/N)'s birthday arrived on the 27th March. This year the three of them decided to meet up a day prior, as the guys had to work the weekend and Misaki was heads over heals on her studies.

Anyways, now, they all joined together in Kaito's car, heading to one of the best bars in town. Well, after a short side trip to (Y/N)'s place to get Misaki's stuff out. There was really no way Kai would not only drag his best friends but also a heavy bag of cloths and tons of books up the stairs when they were hammered. Thankfully, more or less, he had volunteered to drive them home since he had to get up around early in the morning for work and hangovers hit him pretty bad. Drinking might not have been the best idea then.

Arriving not even 30 minutes later at the bar, the trio was quick to find the reserved area for the party, even though there were no people around yet. But when calling for a reservation, Kaito made sure to add in a few extras. How could he not? After all, he was asked if there was anything else he wanted!

So when (Y/N) cracked out into an uncontrollable laughter at the Disney Princesses themed corner, where a banner proudly announced "HAPPY BIRTHDAY (Y/N)" in colorful letters, his best friends only high fived at it.

"Oh god!" (Y/N) tried to say between laughs, having a hard time to get out any words," It's amazing!" He tried his best at taking deep breaths, looking at the scene and appreciating every bit of it. "They asked for any special favours, so I brough a few extra supplies and honestly, this looks better than imagined." Kaito swung an arm around his best mate's shoulder, Misaki already heading to put on a party hat.

Not even an hour and two drinks later, the group was joined by a handful of folks from (Y/N)'s classes, a couple of other mutual friends, as well as Kaito's girlfriend Miriam. Seeing them cuddling on the couch in some corner made him smile, knowing he also had someone to cuddle up with. If he was there, that is. Which, well, he was not. Not like he cared. (Y/N) looked down into his drink, swirling it a bit as he zoned out of the conversation for a little.

There was not a real problem. (Y/N) and Dazai were not even in a relationship. Dating? Perhaps. And Dazai was still busy juggling his own life. They had come to the conclusion that nobody on Dazai's side needed to know that he was in a relationship. The past still haunting him, and he was sure that it would catch up one way or another. (Y/N) knew that Dazai was barely wrong when it came to such forecasts. So, he only hoped for the most painless way that could happen. Yet still, (Y/N) could not help but miss him at such events.

Shaking his head slightly, eyes wide open in an attempt to comprehend what had just been said, instead of letting it fly over his head, the birthday boy returned to the party. Thoughts trailing of every now and then, of course. Luckily, there were enough other folks who gladly took the challenge amongst them to keep him as much in the moment as possible. And, when already at it, making him drink as much as possible.
