"So you guys grew up together?" I said as we rode in the back of the chauffeured G-Wagon.
We had touched down in New Orleans not even thirty minutes ago—and upon arrival, there were three chauffeured G-Wagons waiting.
But only two of those seemed to be for security purposes.
Fenix shrugged, "I mean, yeah—we were the closest, but I grew up knowing a lot of mafia inherited children," she explained.
And I could only imagine what her life was like—growing up around an extreme amount of security detail, large amounts of money, and wondering what secret meetings they were holding behind closed doors.
"I mostly rotated between New Orleans and Chicago until our house was finished being built," Fenix added.
By house she means island. Totally normal.
I furrowed my brows, "Wait, Chicago? Does that mean—"
"That I know the Vipers?" Fenix cut me short, knowing exactly where I was going with this.
Yes, the Saints were dangerous, but the Vipers took the term dangerous to another level—the FBI couldn't get them if they tried.
Especially since their global.
It's speculated that the FBI has an agreement with them—keeping innocent lives protected in exchange for no snooping around.
That's probably why we don't have anything on the Saints—they must be in alliance with the Vipers.
"I was only in Chicago whenever Armani and Dominico visited from Italy growing up—but Noa seemed to need me here anyways," Fenix said as the car came to a halt.
And by the solemn tone that her voice took, it didn't feel like she meant Noa actually needed her skills, instead it seemed like Noa needed her for emotional support.
"Ms. Ellis and Ms. Rossi," the man nodded curtly as he opened the door for us—revealing the historic mansion behind iron-clad gates that we managed to be parked in front of.
I gave the man a respectful nod, sliding out of the car as Fenix slid out behind me.
Automatically, I spotted two women—one had light brown hair and was dressed in a black pantsuit while the other had dark black hair and wore matching black dress pants with a red blouse that seemingly matched the red painting her lips.
"Noa—Lunden," Fenix greeted them both with a genuine smile—which easily confused me.
I hadn't seen Fenix so happy to see anyone before.
Not even her own family.
"Feni, long time no see," The woman with light brown hair said, smiling as she pulled Fenix into a brief hug.
The woman with black hair gave her a warm smile, "How've you been—" her dark eyes suddenly darted over to me, "—are you dating someone now?" she questioned, clearly surprised.
My eyes easily widened, "No, no—"
"She's the FBI agent?" the brunette cut me short, looking over to Fenix with an insinuating smile.
The woman with black hair took a step toward me, "I'm Lunden—and this is my wife, Noa," she warmly introduced, easily pulling me into a hug.
I hesitantly hugged her back, feeling confused by the entire situation, "It's nice to meet you both," I said as Lunden pulled back from the hug.
I couldn't possibly begin to lie and say they weren't an attractive couple.
"You could've mentioned how beautiful she was," Lunden said, easily making my face grow warm with shyness.
