Hunted

Chapter 1

Hey, Guys I just wanted to warn you this book gets pretty graphic so if you don't like graphic stuff this might not be for you. Other than that enjoy!! 

"Come to me." a lady in a cloak whispered to me with a raspy voice. 

I backed away from her and felt a strange feeling of my chest coming out of my body and my organs sloshing around inside as I fell off the cliff. 

"AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!" I jumped up out of her bed drenched in sweat, my scar burning. A dream, it was only a dream. 

I pressed my hands into my chest hoping to find the scratch of fabric but instead, I found my hands touching the leather of a journal.

 I stood up and grabbed my glasses from the bedside table. 

As I walked down the stairs I saw my parents Mr. and Mrs. Harper in formal clothes and my brother Danyal eating at the table. 

I walked over to the counter and grabbed a steaming pack of food. As I opened up the package, I saw the steaming pasta and the smell of chicken and my home. As I sat down my parents spoke.

"Hayley, today your father and I are going to a party for adults. I need you to look after your brother. Is that alright?" Dad said, I nodded and focused back on my food. 

The one thing that bothered me was that they were going out today. They never go out. As they walked out the door there was another knock. 

Danyal jumped up to open it. When he opened the door and saw that it was Blake, Paige, Piper, Jack, and Chris, they all had faces of joy their parents probably had gone to the same party.

"So guys what's up why are you here?" I asked.

"Blake had a great idea that we follow our parents to the party they are going to, wanna come?" Jack answered.

"I think that's a good idea. They never go to parties so why today??" I said in response.

"So we're going!!" said Piper. They all hopped into Chris's minivan and started on the road.

When they got onto the highway behind Mr. and Mrs. Harper's car, we continued to follow them until they came upon the entrance to a dark cold town that looked abandoned and the run-down houses looked like they could be on the set for a scary movie. 

The cobwebs in the alleys completed the picture. A chill ran down my neck and I felt a bit of doubt that stopped me in my tracks. I reached my hand up to grasp the back of my neck. A slight pull at my skirt gave me a shock. 

As I looked down I saw Danyal with a worried look. He was only seven and this town was probably the worst thing he had ever seen. 

I pulled him up and held him in my arms as he quietly shuttered in fear. 

We all spread out in groups of three so we had a better chance of not being separated as much. 

I walked past abandoned houses and stopped when I saw the shadow of something tall and thin then it ran like a cheetah and disappeared.

 The group came together and stared at the towering mansion on the top of the hill.

"What's that?" Piper exclaims with a smile.

"I don't know, let's find out-" Blake answered.

"Shhh!!" I said

"Look" I pointed at the line of people walking toward the mansion. I walked up to the line and waved for the others to follow me. They do and when their closer Piper gasps and grabs a pad of paper and a pencil out of her pocket and starts right.

"Ok, so people wearing black cloaks leave in the middle of the night to go to a mansion," Piper whispered as she wrote. Blake crouched closer to the others.

"Ok now, what's our next mo-"

"Wait I saw someone with a bell in their hand," Jack says to Piper. 

Chris nodded along with her words. The people in black cloaks continued to walk as the group followed them. 

When we came to the mansion the people all lined up at the door talking loudly but not loud enough so that we could hear them. 

Piper pointed to the side window and we all started to move. When they all got there I looked around doing a head count there were 7. 

Chris was missing.
