S A R A

"Sara, you better not be abusing our shower head again!" Nat shouts from the living room.

She knows me too well.

"You would be too if you had the dream I just did," I shout back, bracing my arm against the shower wall and tilting my head back.

Oh God, that feels so fucking-

"Just fuck third floor hottie again. Besides, that poor shower head deserves a date after all the face time it's had with your snatch lately."

"Bye, Nat," I say flatly, annoyed that she ruined any chance of me dulling the insufferable ache between my thighs.

"Hey, all I'm saying is that you know he can get the job done and pretty damn well from what you've told me."

"Have a great day at work, sweetheart." I tease, returning the shower head to its rightful place.

James is great, and on any other occasion I'd jump his bones the second I saw him at the office, but something about doing it this time feels wrong.

Sure, we use each other for sex on a regular basis, but, at least for me, it's never been about trying to get my mind off of someone, or two someones, it's just been fun. Meaningless, incredibly fucking hot sex with a guy who I feel absolutely nothing for.

Don't get me wrong, he's a total catch, but not for me. I'm not looking to be tied down outside of the bedroom. I like having my freedom. I like not answering to anyone but myself.

At least right now.

I finish up my shower and slip into my work clothes before rushing to the office.

I get settled at my desk, thankful that all the partners were still in their Thursday morning meeting and decide to head to the break room for coffee.

"Machine is busted again," Laura, one of the other paralegals says.

"Of course it is," I mumble.

"I'm heading to the cafe on the third floor if you want to come with," She says, nodding toward the elevator.

"Yeah, sure."

We ride down to the third floor and make our way to the cafe, my eyes unintentionally scanning for James.

I spot him standing in line for coffee scrolling through his phone. His dark grey suit hugging him in all the right places. His dark blonde hair effortlessly styled in the best way possible.

Remind me again why I don't want to fuck away the memory of Ty and Alec?

"I'm gonna grab a breakfast burrito, do you want anything?" Laura asks.

"No, just coffee for me, but thanks!" I reply.

I make my way over to where James is and take my place in line behind him.

"Hey."

"Hey, stranger," he smiles, slipping his phone into his pocket and turning to face me. "I haven't seen you in a while, is everything okay?" he asks, reaching out his hand and tucking my hair behind my ear.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"I don't think we've ever gone this long without-"

"Next!" The barista calls out interrupting James, a small chuckle leaving his mouth.

He turns around and takes a step toward the counter. "Good morning! I'll take a medium iced coffee with almond milk and whatever she wants."

"James, you don't have to."
