Sara snores lightly against my chest and it's moments like these that make me never want to let her go.
The moments of normalcy where I get to pretend that she's actually mine for a little while. That I don't share a piece of her heart. Because here and now it's just the two of us. No exes. No drama. Just us.
And as much as I want her to be happy, and truly know what she wants, there's a selfish part of me that wants to keep her all for myself.
I know we'd be good together. Hell, we are good together. I just need to be patient and give her the time she needs to process everything.
I pull her closer and press my lips to her forehead as my fingers trace along the tattoo on her hip. "Morning, gorgeous. It's time to wake up."
She groans and nuzzles further into my chest. "Five more minutes."
"You said that twenty minutes ago," I chuckle. "And as much as I'd love to spend all day in this bed with you, we can't."
"Why not?" she asks, tilting her head back to reveal her adorable sleepy face. "That seems like the perfect day to me."
I press my lips to the tip of her nose, "Because we have the quarterly meeting this morning and we can't be late."
"But those meetings are so boring," she whines, dramatically rolling onto her back.
"I think I have a way to change that," I smile, climbing on top of her before trailing kisses down her neck and then her chest.
"And what's that?" Her voice hoarse from sleep but somehow sexier than ever.
I suck one of her nipples into my mouth and nibble down before letting it go with a sharp pop. "Get up and find out."
She pulls her bottom lip between her teeth and smiles up at me. "You play dirty, Barrett."
"You ain't seen nothing yet, Cooper."
After convincing Sara to get out of bed with a quickie in the shower to make her less grumpy we make it to work with fifteen minutes to spare.
Just enough time for us to grab coffee together before heading to the meeting. I pay, of course, because while spoiling her with orgasms and sex is great, seeing her smile as she sips her coffee from across the room is even better.
Okay, maybe they're tied. The sounds she makes when she comes apart are fucking amazing, and just thinking about it is giving me a half-chub.
Most of the people we work with are oblivious, or too busy trying to hide their own affairs to care, but we want to keep things between us on the down low.
Sara and I came to the agreement that, while people in the office knowing about us wouldn't be the worst thing, we would keep our distance apart from getting coffee and lunch together.
Which means not sitting next to her at the quarterly meetings. I'm not complaining though. If she were next to me, I'm not entirely sure I'd be able to keep my hands to myself.
Plus, looking at her from across the room makes what I'm about to do a lot more fun.
Mr. Wilson, one of the partners at the firm, starts up the meeting going over housekeeping items, all the new accounts we've taken on in the last three months and announcing firm events, including the retirement of his assistant Mary who has been working for him since before I was even born.
I steal a glance at Sara just as she's setting down her coffee. Smirking to myself, I click the button on the small remote in my pocket, turning on the toy inside her.
