Sometime at Night

Third Person POV

The sounds of distant sirens and spinning blades fill the air as a helicopter darts across the sky, quickly straightening its course and passing over a cliff edge, revealing a large facility which would otherwise be hidden from anyone on foot around the cliff.  The large rotors take the aircraft lower as it prepares to make a landing somewhere nearby, which shows off the streets of the facility in a sort of controlled chaos, people and vehicles fleeing as fast as is possible while still holding a somewhat orderly pace.  The sound of sirens are now loud, blaring just quietly enough so that an intercom can still be heard.

Intercom: All personnel, the evacuation order has been confirmed.  Proceed to your designated vehicles for off-campus Evacuation.  This is not a drill.  Emergency personnel report to your designated vehicles for off-campus evacuation.

The helicopter is then seen lowering to the ground on a landing pad outside the main facility, Agent Coulson stands waiting for whoever is in the vehicle as the side door opens.  First to step out is a woman in the typical agent attire, followed by a man in a trench coat with an eye patch across his left eye, or what remained of it at least.  The man stands to look around before walking to the two agents awaiting him, speaking to Coulson immediately.  "How bad is it?" Fury asks.

Coulson removes his glasses before replying, "That's the problem, sir.  We don't know."

The scene cuts to an oddly fast moving elevator as Coulson's voice is heard again, the trio now walking quickly through the lower floors of the facility.  "Dr. Selvig read an energy surge from the tesseract four hours ago."

Fury's voice then cuts in before the agent could continue, "NASA didn't authorize Selvig to go to test phase."

"He wasn't testing it, he wasn't even in the room. Spontaneous event." Coulson says to correct Fury.

"It just turned itself on?" Hill asks, perplexed that the space cube they understand nothing about behaved in a way they understand nothing about.

"Where are the energy levels now?" Fury questions to get back on track as they walk past several workers grabbing cases of research.

"Climbing. When Selvig couldn't shut it down we ordered evac."

"How long to get everyone out?" The director asks, completely unaware that you are normally supposed to have systems in place for such a thing.

"Campus should be clear in the next half-hour." Coulson responds.

"Do better." Fury says.

Coulson nods at Fury with a determined expression before turning

The scene cuts to Fury walks down a staircase spiraling around a large concrete chamber, followed immediately by Hill, who begins speaking as they descend. "Sir, evacuation could be futile."

"We should tell them to go back to sleep?" Fury responds quickly.

"If we can't control the Tesseract's energy, there may not be a minimum safe distance." Hill says, though Fury quickly disregards it and changes the subject as scientists and other personnel run the other way.

"I need you to make sure the phase 2 prototypes are shipped out." He orders.

"Sir, is that really a priority right now?" Hill asks before stopping as Fury turns around to face her.

"Until such time as the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on." He says taking a small pause before continuing, "Clear out the tech below. Every piece of phase 2 on a truck and gone." He orders before stepping through the doorway into the large chamber, Hill saying a quick "Yes, sir." She then walks forward instead of following the director, before commanding two guards to follow her.
