3rd person POV
Mirabel couldn't believe it. Her Tia had just finished giving birth to her little cousin, and she knew that meant that the nursery was getting used again. There was just one small problem. It was technically already Mirabel's room.
Despite it not being magic, Mirabel had really made herself at home.
And now, she was either gonna have to share the room with her cousin, or she was gonna be kicked out. One or the other.
"I wish I could do something, something meaningful..." she said to no-one in particular. All she wanted was to be useful, just once. To be special in the eyes of her family.
To feel like she was actually worth something.
All of a sudden, she heard a sound that could only be described as a sort of shimmer mixed with a pop behind her. She turned around and was shocked to see a purplish pink egg, with purple tiger stripes all over it.
"Why is this here?" Mirabel wondered aloud. Casita's tiles clattered in a way that Mirabel understood as, "Its for you." "Wait, you mean that this is kinda like, a Gift?" Once more, Casita's tiles clattered, "Yes, but its more like a responsibility than anything else. This egg belongs to an extinct species of creatures known as nargacugas, and the Miracle must have felt that you needed a companion to help you through this time in your life."
Mirabel cautiously picked the egg up and was surprised by how soft and warm it felt in her hands. She picked up a fluffy blue blanket that she'd made herself, and wrapped the egg up nice and warm in it.
"I don't know what you'll grow into, but I know I'm gonna love you" Mirabel said. She was surprised at how naturally her motherly side was coming out in the presence of this little egg, but she supposed it came from her mother's genetics.
And she was gonna be the best mom ever to this little egg.
