"We're early today," Jaehyun remarked, stepping into the classroom with a satisfied grin.
"And how can you be so sure?" Leehan asked, glancing at his wristwatch.
"Because Taesan isn't here yet. That's the only logical explanation."
Leehan raised a brow. "It's unusual. He's never late."
"Maybe he got caught up in something or couldn't wake up on time because of last night," Jaehyun speculated, shrugging.
"Yeah, maybe."
The two made their way to their seats, settling next to Woonhak.
Class began, but Taesan still hadn't shown up. The minutes stretched into an hour, and worry started to creep into their minds. Taesan never skipped classes- he was the type who always showed up, no matter what.
"I know," Jaehyun replied under his breath. "Maybe it's an emergency, but he didn't inform any of us. That's... odd."
"What if-" Leehan began, but a sharp voice cut him off.
"Can you two shut up? If you want to attend this lecture, keep quiet, or leave!"
The professor's sudden outburst silenced them completely. Clearly, the man had been in a foul mood all morning, and their murmurs had pushed him over the edge.

At lunch, Jaehyun slumped into a seat in the cafeteria next to Riwoo, his mind still preoccupied.
"Have you guys seen Taesan today?" he asked, looking around the table.
"How would we have seen him before you?" Sungho replied, confused. "He's in your first four classes, isn't he?"
"Yeah, but he didn't show up for any of them," Jaehyun said, frowning.
"For real? That's impossible." Riwoo's eyes widened in disbelief.
"I know it's hard to believe, but it's true," Jaehyun confirmed.
"Maybe he's sick," Riwoo suggested.
"Should we visit his dorm after school?" Leehan proposed.
Everyone nodded in agreement, finishing their lunch in uneasy silence.

After school, they headed to Taesan's dorm. Knocking on his door, they were greeted by his roommate, who looked surprised to see them.
"Hi, we're here to see Taesan," Sungho began, offering a polite smile.
"Taesan?" His roommate frowned. "He hasn't come back since last night. I thought he was at a sleepover or something."
The group exchanged worried glances.
"But he wasn't with us either," Woonhak said, his voice laced with concern. "Where could he have gone?"
"Have you tried contacting him?" the roommate suggested.
"We did," Riwoo replied, shaking his head. "He's not answering calls or replying to texts."
"Thank you for your time," Sungho said, forcing a smile. "We'll figure it out."
Once outside, they regrouped near the dormitory's exit.
"What now?" Leehan asked, his voice tense.
"I don't know," Sungho admitted. "His parents don't live here, and he's never mentioned any relatives."
A heavy silence hung over the group until Woonhak spoke up.
"Hyung, where did you leave him last night?"
"In front of the alley beside my dorm. Why?" Jaehyun replied.
"Don't you think we should check that area? We might find a clue or something."
"You're right but we should contact his parents first, just in case."
"I already did," Leehan admitted, looking guilty. "I told them we were just checking in, so they wouldn't worry. He's not with them either."
The group hurried to the alley where Jaehyun and Taesan had parted ways the previous night. They searched every corner, their eyes scanning for any sign of their missing friend.
Hours passed with no luck, and frustration began to set in. Just as they were about to give up, Woonhak's voice rang out.
"Hyung, look!"
The others rushed towards him, their gazes falling on the small object in his hand.
"Isn't this Taesan hyung's ring?" Woonhak asked, holding it up for everyone to see.
Leehan's eyes widened. "It is. I'm sure of it. I gave it to him as a birthday present."
"Where did you find it?" Riwoo asked, his voice urgent.
Woonhak pointed to a dark corner near the alley's edge.
"It was over there."
The group fell silent, the weight of the discovery settling over them.
"What does this mean?" Jaehyun muttered, his voice barely audible.
