Don't kill me guys but here's the long awaited epilogue. I'm not sure if I did good but I tried my best to write something out of my comfort zone so yeah hopefully you enjoy :3
The sun shone brightly over the city, casting a golden hue across the streets. The scent of spring lingered in the air, carried by the soft breeze that rustled the cherry blossoms above. Petals drifted down like snowflakes, landing on Ma-ri’s hair as she sat on a checkered picnic blanket, her head resting comfortably on Taesan’s shoulder.
She had a book open in her lap, but the words were long forgotten as she listened to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. The world felt slow, peaceful—like a perfect moment suspended in time.
"And that," Taesan announced dramatically, breaking the silence, "is the story of how I, Han Taesan, became the best boyfriend in the universe."
Ma-ri let out a soft laugh, tilting her head to look up at him. "You’re really full of yourself, you know that?"
"Hey, I’m just stating facts," he shot back, a smug grin playing on his lips.
She rolled her eyes but couldn’t fight the smile tugging at her lips. "Fine," she said, drawing out the word playfully. "You’re the best boyfriend ever. Happy now?"
"Ecstatic." He leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead, the warmth lingering against her skin.
She sighed contentedly, letting her fingers intertwine with his. They sat in comfortable silence for a moment, basking in the peacefulness they had fought so hard to reach. No more pain, no more uncertainty— just them, here, together.
But, of course, their peace was short-lived.
"Lovebirds!" Jaehyun’s loud voice shattered the moment. "Are you two just gonna sit there all day, or are you coming to play?"
Ma-ri turned to see their friends a few feet away, setting up for what appeared to be a chaotic game of soccer. Jaehyun was already making a big deal out of something, Leehan was shaking his head in exasperation, Woonhak and Sungho were laughing at whatever ridiculous thing had just happened while riwoo just sat there in one of the corners.
"You guys go ahead! We’ll join in a minute," Ma-ri called, shaking her head with a small smile.
Taesan groaned, burying his face in her shoulder. "They are never going to let us have a peaceful moment, are they?"
"Would you really want it any other way?" she teased, nudging him gently.
He sighed, looking up at her with playful defeat. "I mean, I could do without Jaehyun hyung's constant yelling. But yeah… I wouldn’t change it."
She turned slightly, reaching up to tuck a stray strand of hair behind his ear. Her fingers lingered, tracing the curve of his jaw. "I wouldn’t change it either," she murmured, her voice softer now.
Taesan’s gaze flickered to her lips for just a second before he muttered, "Are you trying to make me fall in love with you all over again?"
Ma-ri giggled. "And what if I am?"
He hummed, pulling her a little closer, his forehead resting against hers. "Then you’re succeeding."
and with that they got lost in the warmth of each other’s presence again. The laughter of their friends, the soft breeze, the way his hands gently settled on her waist—it all felt so natural, so right.
"I mean it, Ma-ri," Taesan whispered, his voice filled with sincerity. "I’m never letting go of you."
Her fingers curled around the fabric of his shirt as she smiled up at him. "And I’ll never let go of you either."
Before he could say something else, a soccer ball came flying towards them, barely missing Taesan’s head.
"HEY!" Taesan turned with a glare, only to see Jaehyun grinning mischievously.
"Oops," Jaehyun called. "Accident!"
Leehan sighed. "It wasn’t an accident."
Ma-ri burst into laughter, tugging at Taesan’s hand. "Come on, ‘best boyfriend in the universe.’ Time to prove if you’re also the best soccer player."
He groaned but let her pull him towards the group. "Fine. But if I win, you’re buying me ice cream."
"Deal," she said without hesitation.
"Wait, that was too easy," Taesan muttered, narrowing his eyes suspiciously.
She smirked. "Who said I planned on losing?"
Their friends’ laughter echoed around them as they joined the game, the afternoon sun casting long golden shadows across the field. It was loud, chaotic, and completely imperfect.
But for Ma-ri, it was home.
Because in the end, despite all the chaos, heartbreak, and pain, she and Taesan had found their way to each other. And that was the kind of happy ending neither of them had dared to dream of.
