🏐. . . ODESSA BUCKLEY FELT HER WORLD COLLAPSE WHEN SHE TORE HER ACL IN 2021. for a girl who spent most her life wanting to become one of the best netballers out there. the injury she sustained was something she wanted to recover from as fast as possible.
odessa was forced to move back to melbourne to live under the roof of her mother, who was the only family member who was able to take care of the twenty two year old after her injury.
odessa counted down the days until her life would return back to normal, when she would be back in fan filled stadiums playing the game she loved most. shooting goals, hearing the crowd scream whenever she got game changing goals. she missed all of it, sydney.
after being dragged down to a matilda's practice by her coach ( who happened to be the assistant coach for the australian women's football team ) she was welcomed into a world where just trying to continue loving with a major injury felt a lot more than just an injury.
sam kerr was the first person to offer odessa help, knowing she was going behind her coaches back. sam gave odessa a simple proposal, sam would teach the netballer football, so odessa could build as much strength in her leg as she could. and being as desperate as odessa was, she took it. unsure of the life-changing thing she had just done.
