The moment that Mason's head hit his rucksack that he was currently using as a pillow he fell asleep. However, a restful sleep would be out of reach for soldiers.
He opened his eyes. "What the hell is this place? '' he thought to himself. As his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he noticed that he was surrounded by trees.
But like the other plants around him they had a white outline almost as if he was inside an old video game. As he looked around the trees appeared to start growing taller. Gradually they stretched hundreds of feet into the air towards an apex directly above him. He dared not speak a word, for some reason it felt to him that breaking the stillness around him would put him in grave danger. And so, he stood there silently waiting.
And then as if it had always been there a human shape appeared out of the corner of his eye.
The human shaped thing stood 10 ft tall. The towering frame was stick thin and had no face. The creature was outlined the same way as all the other things in this place. Its arms were out of proportion with the rest of its body. Its arms nearly scraped the ground similar to a gorilla. Its fingers long and spindly each ended in a wicked talon 4in in length.
The few features he could make out with only the white lines deeply unsettled him.
"The fucking thing looks like a mutant combo between SCP-096 and the slender man." He said internally as the edges of a suit and tie became obvious on the gangly frame of the creature.
And to his horror it spoke, its voice sounded like dozens of voices smashed together, not all of them human.
"Hello, sir" the voice that emanated from the creature seemed to be coming from everywhere at once. It seemed to hate calling him "sir" and said so with as much sarcasm as the abomination's voice could convey.
"My name is Simply "The Butler", My King summons you."
Mason decided that silence while in this things presence was the only thing keeping him alive.
He nodded to the butler.
The Butler, seeing his nod lifted an inhumanly long hand up level with his head and made a twisting motion like one would use to screw in a lightbulb.
A sickening feeling permeated his head. To him the world of black and white blurred around him. His sense of balance left soon after. It was impossible to tell up from down. And in only a few minutes they arrived at their destination.
When the world was no longer blurred, he realized he was currently floating in the air above a massive city. He estimated that he was around 4,000ft above the ground. From this altitude the outer reaches of the city continued to stretch to the horizon.
The city was enormous, although it seemed that many of the most populous areas were small. He looked to the sun and deduced that he must be facing north.
He took a quick look below him and almost regretted it. Even for someone not afraid of heights, not being in an aircraft or in a parachute was extremely unnerving. After he got over his sudden vertigo, he saw a massive wall below him that, as he followed it, stretched around the entire city. The top of the wall held what could only be described as massive artillery pieces. It however didn't appear to have any visible SAM systems along the wall. The true size was impossible to determine with no known landmarks or references to help.
He then looked back at the city and towards the east he saw two very large towers. One was circular but had gothic arches that surrounded the base. The size was like everything else massive. It was difficult to tell just how tall but it dwarfed the surrounding buildings.
The second tower looked like an upscaled Big Ben. It had more gothic architecture surrounding it. It closely resembled several castles and churches he had seen while in eastern Europe.
