Mama Nina's Diary - Borderline Dead (Complete)

7th March.

We continue towards Hertzwald. But awful sounds off to the north-east got our attention. We investigated and found a sinkhole with a horrific sight.

A carrion crawler is feeding on corpses in the depths of the pit with occasional zombies forming on the periphery. These zombies would attack the beast and then it would kill them and consume them.

Carrion crawlers are often associated with dread and death, but they are ‌just beasts with a lust for dead flesh. They are not innately evil. The group was quick to decide that it might be better to leave the beast to its feast rather than engage in an unnecessary battle. We watched as it destroyed all the zombies and continued to feast. Broderick was concerned about its proximity to the road, but we could always return to deal with it once we have dealt with the evil that lurks in Hertzwald. If we survive that...

We watched the beast for some minutes before we left, and thankfully we could leave without calling the beast on to us. My heart did leap when we made a slight noise, and the eating sounds within the pit ceased for a moment.
