Did all that happen in one day? Gosh, we did a great deal yesterday.

We all took turns resting last night and, in the morning, eating, packing up and leaving. The Church of Chante will leave us with chilling memories and haunted nightmares.

Within an hour, we rode into a virtual ghost town. A faded board has the word Hertzwald barely legible. We are in the area that creeps my old bones out.

Abandoned shops and businesses stand vacant and silent on either side of the street. The only actual place that looks like there may be a bit of life is the Sheriff's office. A small squat building waiting at the end of the main road. We all traipse over there and enter, Broderick and Troy bursting to find out the state of their commission.

We meet Amy and Simon, the secretary and last surviving Sheriff, respectively.

I wasn't totally sure what to do as I'm not a Sheriff by any stretch of the imagination, but I hung about and this place stands stead for all the functions. Amy took my papers and told me that my new home would be the ole Matthews' place. Whose previous occupants have gone off, burnt up all their possessions and moved into the cult that worships the god Tegahz? Never heard of this one... I think it may be a demon from the pit pretending to be a god. But who knows?

Sigh.

I wanted to look over my new property as I considered it might make an adequate base of operations, but Broderick, Troy, and White Raven started arguing. I could sense that fists or worse would happen soon if they didn't get something else to occupy their time.

So I encouraged Simon to give directions to Marlie, an old Firblog, who is Simon's oldest friend. Hopefully, with a new quest to distract them, the group will settle down, focus on destroying evil and not get into a scrap with each other.

It did not take long to find Marlie's house, which was dirty and sparse. Marlie is partially blind and seems a little senile. The evils ravaging his home plague him. I think it is having a negative effect on his ability to tell fantasy from reality. He did, however, help us with some extra potions and guided us near the cultist settlement at Laura Haspel's house.

Once we were within sight of the place, Marlie seemed to go crazy and rushed off back the way we'd come, muttering as he went. I guess we're on our own.

And the first thing we do when faced with a stressful situation is start bickering. Broderick was still smarting from Troy's earlier boasting, but he agreed to go further into the camp with Troy. They will try to keep each other safe while Aria, White Raven and I hang back, observing. I hope we find the source of this evil soon and it doesn't find us first!
