"Hey Bella." He gave me a small hug, and a smile before his eyes landed on Kate.

Chapter 16: Running Closer Together

I quickly glanced between the two, and couldn't help but groan, "Really? What the hell is with this city and love?" I asked sighing in exasperation, and slamming back into the couch

Taylor chuckled, and I scooted closer towards him, "I think your friends won't be bothering you to much this weekend." He whispered to me, with a bit of a smirk playing on his lips

I thought that through for a moment. Did I really want my friends hanging out with their "lovers" all weekend long? Even though I am still a little annoyed with them, I was planning to spend at least a few hours with them. I mean I missed them, a lot. Although being with Taylor is like a dream come true, I miss having my girls just around the corner.

My eyes scanned the room and landed on Kate and Brendon, "I'm not so sure if I want it that way anymore." I admitted sheepishly, and looked down towards my legs

My eyes finally found Taylor's after a few moments, and he gave me a confused look that seemed to say, "Are you ok?"

I only nodded, and looked back towards Kate who was now flirting with Brendon, then my eyes landed on Kiana and Kellen who were making out in the far corner of the dance floor, and finally on India and Jackson who were still at the bar with goofy grins on their faces.

They all looked so different, and so happy and content. They didn't seem to even remember that I was there, and only a few feet away. There backs were all turned away from me, and suddenly I was feeling that emptiness and regret in my stomach.

I clutched it hoping that it would go away, but it didn't. It only got worse, as memory after memory came rushing back like a herd of bulls. Our silly handshakes that we thought were secret but everybody knew of. Our gossip sessions, that we claimed were simply "discussion times", our obsession with Twilight, and most importantly our openness and innocence.

Back in fresh man-year, as we first entered the high school we claimed that we would never forget one another. Even after high school we would stay in touch, and always, always tell one another everything that happened to us after we went our separate ways. Whether it was good or terribly bad.

My heart seemed to sink father and farther, until it reached my stomach. I broke that promise. My eyes widened in realization finally hit, that was the whole reason why I didn't want them coming here in the first place. It wasn't because I was mad at them at all. It was because I felt guilty. Because of me, our friendship drifted apart. Who was I kidding? We weren't friends. We were a family. A family, which I just threw under the bus to be selfish and only think of myself.

Before I could think anything through, and before Taylor or anyone could stop me, I was already running. Running out the door, and as far away from them as I possibly could get.

KATIES POV:

I saw Bella run out of the VIP section that we were all sitting in.

I turned my attention away from Brendon, and towards Taylor. Boy was that guy sexy as hell. I quickly shook the thought away, and gave him a worried look, he returned it and got up off of the couch to jog/run towards the back door that Bella had ran out of.

I turned to Brendon to give him a quick apologetic smile, and quickly followed Taylor out the door.

Taylor stopped dead in his tracks, causing me to run straight into him, "She's gone." His voice cracked slightly, making me worry

"Where do you think she went?" I asked, my own voice shaking a little

He looked both ways before responding, "I'm not sure." He sighed, and pulled his phone out and dialed what I guess was Bella's number

After a few tries from the both of us India and Kiana came running out the back door, their faces had looks of horror on them

"Where did she go?" India asked slightly out of breath

Both Taylor and I sighed, and I turned my torso to give them a little shrug

"Why did she leave?" Kiana questioned, "Did someone say something to her?" She moved her eyes to Taylor

He just shook his head, and went back to dialing her number, and mumbling something that sounded like, "Come on Bella pick up please."

"Well, are we just going to stand here or actually do something? Or wait till the Pacific Ocean explodes?" India said, her voice rising

I snapped my head up, as her words sunk in. Of course, I should have thought of that in the first place! The ocean! Bella always went to the ocean whenever she was sad or mad about something. She found the sound of water relaxing, and filled with answers.

"Where is the nearest beach to here?" I demanded, already walking

Kiana, and India's head slowly started to rise at my words. By the looks on their faces, I was sure that they remembered as well.

"Kate, you're a genius!" India screeched, "Hey, werewolf boy, give us the directions towards the beach." She exclaimed, with a small smile creeping up on her face

"Why?" Taylor asked curious

"Just trust us. We know where she is." I promised

"I'm coming with you." His voice was husky and his brown eyes seemed to burn with meaning

"No," I replied, "She needs us right now. We'll bring her back. We promise." I said firmly

He looked at me for a few moments before tossing his car keys towards me, "Venice beach is just a few blocks up."

I flashed him a quick smile, before starting to head towards the car that was parked just around the corner. Before we disappeared around the corner Taylor grabbed my arm, "Tell her I love her, and that I am sorry if I did anything to hurt her." He whispered his voice barely audible

All that I could do was nod, and turn to walk towards the car with Kiana and India. I didn't know where we were going exactly, or even the reason why. But I did know that we would finally be that group of best friends that we once were.
