There wasn't much space in the small aquarium that was made to imitate the vast Yellow Sea, so that the majestic creature wouldn't freak out as much. The Dianxia approached Topi as he hid behind a small batch of kelp, trying to avoid the human man, Topi had always been taught to avoid humans, most especially male humans. The currently unnamed Dianxia walked closer towards Topi's mini personal glass surrounded sea, he softly pressed his hand against the glass, as if waiting for Topi to place his hand against his side of the glass.
Topi just stared at the jewelry which he thought looked funny, he looked the prince up and down, trying to learn about how humans dressed, but he just got more confused as he continued to try and study the human. What's up with the weird sparkly 'plant' on his head? Why is he wearing so much more clothes than the other humans? Why is his hair so long compared to others? Other questions just kept following along.
The strange looking human started to do something that seemed like smiling. Though Topi couldn't fully make through what his expression was due to the thick glass.
Finally, the man who was drenched in layers of clothes that Topi couldn't even count spoke. "I've never witnessed a creature as beautiful as yourself personally.." Topi couldn't understand what he was trying to say, or if he was trying to communicate at all. So he got a bit closer to the glass, and placed his hand on the glass, next to the princes.
His eyes glistened with happiness as he looked up at the majestic sea creature, Topi looked at him confused, his nose was scrunched up, his eyes were squinted, and instead of being mesmerized by the human thing, he was rather trying to figure out why it looked how it did.
Topi tried to arch his back, and nod his head to try and communicate with the enthralling human man, but instead the 'stupid' human just giggled at him, thinking it was cute. Topi cocked his head, wondering why the human couldn't understand his way of communicating, which was body language, but his mum taught him that some humans and other mers have their own way of communicating, so he figured that was the case.He swam back up closer towards the glass and started to tap on it continuously, the Dianxia actually understood Topi, he studied Morse Code and was interested in sailing and things as such. Topi knew Morse Code because of how much the sailors and fishers above water used it, so he simply eventually got the hang of it.
Topi's first and current only priority was to know where in the world he was, so he attempted to ask. " .-- .... . .-. . / .- -- / .. ..--.. " He tapped on the thick glass, and they finally had a way of communicating. The prince answered him back with Morse Code as well, telling him the whole story. He was captured, brought to his father, then he was given to him from his father, The Emperor. Topi looked pooped, he was exhausted, scared, and didn't want to be where he was.
" .-- .... .- - .----. ... / -.-- --- ..- .-. / -. .- -- . ..--.. " 'What's your name?' Topi looked down at the fancy human's finger as he pressed it against the glass, communicating with him. He seemed to have lightened the mood, and answered him. " - --- .--. .. " 'Topi' The human smiled, happy that he was able to get to know Topi. Then he told him his name, Hua Ming, and he thought the name was cute. Hua Ming thought that Topi's reaction to his name was much cuter though.Though things were going swell on the surface, under the sea was much more chaotic. Topi's mother had been depressed for days, wondering where her son was. His younger sister, Anja Waluki, was crying in her room, scared for Topi just as her mother was, but she still attempted to comfort her mum as much as she could.
The shark people have been going through a rough time ever since Topi had gone missing, Ilse had been too depressed to lead her people, so they haven't been knowing what to do about anything, food was no longer a problem at least, as a lot of the shark people have given in and don't care about fishing season anymore, due to Ilse's son going missing. Nobody knew what to do other than hunt for food, and comfort their queen.
Ilse requested to have Anja leave her be, the queen claimed she was simply tired, so Anja followed her mothers orders. Instead of heading back to her own room, Anja swam over to Topi's room, she went inside, brushing the kelp door aside. Topi's crab collection, sparkly trinkets he'd found, and his favourite hunting dagger that their father had given Topi before Anja was born. Anja smiled softly and began to tear up as she held up Topi's dagger in her hands, she started to sob as she stared at his favourite weapon to play around with. "Where are you, Topi.."
When Topi and Anja were much younger, their mother and them were traveling constantly. The two siblings never knew their father, but Ilse always told them that he was a great merman who was an amazing warrior. Though Anja didn't care much for their father whom neither of them ever met, Topi was obsessed with being like him.
While they traveled across the seas, Topi was constantly training, trying his hardest to be like his father, he promised his mother and baby sister that he would always protect him when he was younger. He always tried his hardest to get stronger, and learn more about fighting, luckily his mother was a strong fighter as well, and taught him a few things about how to hold his weapon properly, how to use it, and other such things.
While Anja was reminiscing about her and Topi's past, Ilse was thinking about the same thing, she was remembering Topi's father, and Topi himself. She was worried and scared for him, and she missed him just as any decent mother would miss her son if they were to go missing. Though Topi was having the time of his life hanging out with and learning about Hua Ming, they continued to speak and communicate with Morse Code, learning more and more about each other.
Hua Ming and Topi had been getting more friendly with each other ever since they've met, he'd almost forgot about how he was gone from his family, Hua Ming learned about how mers live, eat, work, communicate, and their cultures as well. He was astonished by how they lived, in the books he always read, merpeople had been described as heartless monsters, who only wanted to hurt humanity. The prince had slowly started to warm up more and more to Topi, and he was getting even more intrigued by how he lived.
They were bonding and getting to know each other so well, Topi told the prince about his love for crabs, he also asked why he was dressed with more apparel than the other humans. Hua Ming answered all his questions, but also listened whenever Topi ranted and told him about his interests and what life for merpeople is like. Hua Ming felt horrible when he heard merpeoples side of their story, which was much more believable than how human beings explained it.
"That's horrible.. How could we not see we were in the wrong..?" He asked himself, feeling appalling as to how fishermen, sailors, researchers, and other such sea-based professions had treated merpeople. Right as they were getting into the heat of the conversation, and finally starting to know more about one another, there was a knock on Hua Ming's door. "Hello? Dianxia? Are you in there? I'm coming in, Dianxia." Hua Ming quickly told Topi to hide behind something in his little tank, Topi complied and hid swiftly.
