As the oven dinged, the little boy hopped off the couch he was sitting on, merely nine-year-old and yet the brightest of his age, he giggled away as he was picked off the ground and taken in the grip of his one and only lovely mother,

'Momma~'-he sang song, and yet didn't bother to get away from the woman's grip who only chuckled and kissed him on the cheek,

'Let's see if they are done, hmm? But I want you to stay back and be a good boy while mumma gets the tray out.'

The blonde boy nodded animatedly, his hair bouncing atop his head as he was put on the counter and he kicked his feet excitedly,

He watched his mother open the tiny compartment to the oven, taking a sniff as the purely sweet delightful whiff of freshly baked brownies filled up his nostrils leaving him whining all ready to grab a bite,

'Turns out they look perfect, sunshine.'-the woman spoke, turning to her son whilst putting the tray aside,

'We'll have to let them cool down a bit, however, don't wanna burn our mouths now- do we?'

The boy nodded,

'Do you think Pa will be happy?'

'Ofcourse, my brownie. He'll be so happy to taste the delights baked by his own son.'

The blonde boy, merely nine years old grinned at the thought of his father being happy and maybe he could finally get that art kit he'd been wanting for a while, the stickers in the kit were so cute-

The doorbell rang almost at the same moment and the boy was quiet to raise his arms up making grabby hands,

'Alright, there you go, Lix. Go and open the door for your father whilst I transfer the brownies to a dish.'

Little Felix ran out of the kitchen, making a beeline towards the main door and he had to tip-toe to actually grab the lock,

He twisted the doorknob, quickly unlocking the chain that held the door, and pulled it open, looking up at his father with big-doe eyes that sparkled as the man's face came into view,

'Pa! Up-Pa! Up up!'-he motioned, waddling behind his father, already wanting to hug the elder, because kid one not, Little Felix was a huge 'cuddle bug' in the words of his mother.

His ministrations however were ignored as he watched his father throw away his office bag, which made a sound once colliding against the wooden flooring leaving the boy to flinch and take a step back,

His lips wobbled, as he watched his mother hurry out of the kitchen, with her lips parted and eyebrows clenched out of worry,

'What happened-'
