Thursday 12.05 :

An all-terrain car was waiting for me in the parking lot. I got into the car and Tony fixed his eyes on me.

-"Well? How?" - he looked up at me curiously.

"Good." - I muttered and put on my seatbelt.

-"Good? That's it? What did he tell you?" - he pry.

"And what are you so curious about?"

-"Well, if I made you come here, I want to know something too."

"God... All I've learned is that the investigator is a real bitch who just stresses people out and seems to enjoy it." - I said in frustration.

-"And? We already knew that." - he said impatiently.

"And... And so much for Dad suspecting about Mom's infidelity, but otherwise nothing. Completely useless for Investigator Dorn to try to prove anything. It's absurd. What would my father have to do with what happened? He was shocked when he found out about it. I'm sure it was just a way of investigating. I don't believe anyone could think my father was involved." - I said determinedly.

-"And next?" - he pryed, as if I had forgotten to say something.

"Next? Well, nothing further. What else would you like to know?" - I asked him.

-"How come he didn't tell you anything like that?" - he hurried at me incredulously.

He was acting strangely.

"What would he have to tell me?" - I began to get irritated.

-"Well, I don't know. I thought we'd learn something, too." - he muttered.

I didn't understand his behavior. He just mused and didn't even move the car. Did he want to provoke me?

"Should I walk home?" - I asked.

-"What? Oh, no."

[Starting the car.]

All the way into town Tony was quiet. He was brooding, and it seemed like every once in a while he wanted to say something to me, but in the end he didn't, or he changed his mind.

The clock on the car showed the time as 13:07, which was about nine minutes earlier than on my cell phone. It was getting dark, clouds were engulfing the sky and it was starting to sizzle. We were in the center of the city, where we stopped at a traffic light. All this time, I didn't even feel like talking to him and going over the plan of what we were going to do next. And Tony didn't seem to want to talk about it either, until he started without so much as a glance at me...

-"Listen, can't it be that your dad's keeping something from you?"

I didn't understand where he was going with this.

"What would he be keeping from me?" - I asked calmly, watching the drops on the window.

-"Well, I don't know, but consider. Couldn't your father have something to do with it?"

"Something to do? Are you kidding?!" - I said humorlessly.
I didn't want to argue with him, and I believed that he wasn't entirely serious and was just fooling around.

-"Well, you never know." - he muttered in the most unpleasant way, as if 'only I' couldn't see the truth.

"Well, apparently you know more about my father than I do!" - I replied, already angrily.

-"I'm not saying that, but there's always that possibility." - he wondered.

"What possibility? If you have something to say, say it!" - I said exasperatedly.
