Celestiel sat in her bed, a thoughtful look on her face. It was just after twilight and it was a full moon that night.

She still struggled to wrap her head around the fact that the late pirate king Alexander who had been great friends with her father's father, had been selfish enough to basically kill the second sea.

King Alexander had been the only pirate the Icarthans truly respected. He was a man that the Icarthan children were told stories about constantly. Good stories.

He was the only man whose story brought smiles to the Icarthans' lips as a pirate himself.

The more Celestiel thought about it, the more everything seemed to come together.

Icarthans hated the pirates. King Alexander himself hurt his own people for his own personal gain. It sounded like something an Icarthan would do.

Her train of thought led her to one question.

If her father hated pirates so much and basically revered the king who had betrayed his own people for the sake of power, why had he sent her off to be married to his worst enemy?

He hadn't exactly hidden the fact that he despised the pirates and especially their king, who also happened to be the leader of the Brethren court.

Then why had he married her off to his worst enemy?

What was his plan?

While still in thought, Celestiel heard footsteps coming towards the door. The doorknob turned soon after and Sebastian appeared.

They locked eyes instantly.

"Why are you still awake?", Sebastian questioned. He smiled at her. "Are you waiting for me?"

Celestiel instantly reddened. "No... I'm not just sleepy"

Sebastian took off his Captain's hat and ran his fingers through his hair. Unbuttoning his shirt, he strutted to his closet.

"Why couldn't you sleep, princess?", He asked casually. "Your thoughts?"

He took off the belt that held the sheath of his sword. And Celestiel promptly realized he wasn't going to leave like previous nights, he was going to stay.

"Yes...", She replied quietly, watching him.

Sebastian glanced at her from his closet before turning and walking towards her. Celestiel stared at him, unable to look away. Not even as he firmly placed his hands on the bed, trapping her in the middle.

Leaning closer, Sebastian asked, "Thoughts? Thoughts of what?"

Celestiel's eyes fell to the king's lips and she couldn't help but remember the soft, sweet kiss Sebastian had given her at their wedding. She wouldn't mind having another...

Celestiel closed her eyes subconsciously, expecting a small kiss.  Sebastian's eyes narrowed and he leaned away.

He didn't sense fear. She had her guard down completely.

That wasn't good. They had only known each other for a few days, this naive trust she had would kill her.

"When I ask a question, I expect an answer", he spoke, going to his side of the bed.

Celestiel's eyes instantly opened. She turned beet red, realizing she had let her guard down so easily to a man she barely knew.

What irritated her more was the fact that Sebastian had more control than she did. Was she not desirable? Why had he easily withdrew?

"I apologize, my lord", Celestiel replied, trying to keep her emotions out of her voice. She truly was mortified. "My thoughts weren't anything serious"

Sebastian nodded as he laid in bed and picked up a book from his bed side table. "You should sleep. We'll visit the third and fourth seas tomorrow"

Celestiel's ears perked up. "Those are the seas with the mermaids"

"Yes. I'm aware", Sebastian glanced at her. "Sleep"

Celestiel pursed her lips, watching the king go back to reading his book. So the king did like reading?

Celestiel laid down, obediently. "Aren't you going to sleep, my lord?"

"I will", Sebastian replied, curtly.

Celestiel laid on her side, watching the king read. He looked calm. And the serene energy hovering around him made him seem like some king of god.

The dim light of the moon came through the window and rested on him, enhancing the serene aura around him.

The beauty of the sight ended up lulling the princess to sleep.

By the time Sebastian was done reading, Celestiel was fast asleep. His eyes sized up her soft, sleeping features. She looked even more fragile asleep.

He remembered the first time he had seen her. It had been a masquerade ball her father had hosted. And she had been dressed up as a pirate, that was what had caught his attention. She had been the only pirate in the room.

Sebastian had found her to be the most beautiful woman in the room even though he could only see half her face and her golden eyes alone.

She had sat in a corner, dancing with no one, and speaking to no one but an elite man.

She probably hadn't even known he was at the ball. He had been careful to keep his presence hidden where only the rest of the Brethren court knew of his attendance.

Coming back to the present, Sebastian's attention was stolen by the locket that hung around Celestiel's neck. It glowed brightly in the dark room and Sebastian wondered why.

What intrigued Sebastian even more was the subtle gold light that glowed in the middle of the princess' forehead. It glowed just like how the locket glowed.

"Fascinating...", Sebastian found himself saying. The princess really had something different about her. He thought of how odd the Marlevs had acted around the princess. Obviously, she had some unique secret about herself. And he was going to find it out.

Moving Celestiel's hair gently away from her face, Sebastian gazed at her. "It seems you're more interesting than I imagined, wife"
