Nicks mum: does your mum want you back home?
Y/N: I don't know, I can leave if you need me to
Nicks mum: well it's lovely having you around id he perfectly happy for you to stay over if you're mums ok with it
Y/N: I'll text her and ask
*messenger*
Y/N: hey mum, nick got in an accident and he's pretty hurt, I'm at his house with his mum and she's invited me to stay over but of course if you need me home that's fine as well x
Mum: oh gosh is Nick ok?! You'll have to tell me what happens tomorrow, it's fine for you to stay over, I wouldn't want you walking home in the dark anyway x
Y/N: thanks mama ❤️

Y/N: my mum said it's fine for me to stay over tonight
Nicks mum: oh good! Let me just put this stuff back in the bathroom and we'll get you set up
Y/N: thanks sarah
I smile at her and she smiles back, nicks mum really does have that same nick-like friendlyness that instantly creates a feeling of complete and utter comfort. Meeting her has explained to me very quickly why and how nick is so respectful of women.
She starts to walk up the stairs, medical stuff in hand.
Nick: I'm so glad you're staying over tonight
Y/N: me too, I was dreading leaving you
Nick: awww were you worried about meeee
Y/N: YES! Very!
Nick: awh you careee
Y/N: of course i care love
Nick snuggles up close to me and we both sit sipping our tea in a comfortable silence until Sarah comes back down the stairs with blankets and pillows.
Nicks mum: I thought you two could make yourselves a little set up down here with all the blankets
Nick: thanks mum that'll be great
Y/N: thanks so much Sarah you're so kind
Nicks mum: the pleasure is all mine you truly are a delight to have around y/n.
Y/N: I love being here and I love being around you and your son, you really are amazing people
She beams at me and when I turn to face nick his smile is just as bright.
Nicks mum: before I go upstairs and leave you two to it let me just check that eye quickly
She gently removes the now slightly defrosted peas and examines nicks bruised eye
Nicks mum: it'll heal, but you could've been badly injured nicky
Nick: I know mum, it won't happen again.
Nicks mum: alright sweetheart I'm just glad you're ok and you had such great people around you to help.
She gives nick a kiss on the head then turns to leave, but she stops herself and turns back. She approaches me, leans in, and gives me a hug. It's not nick-like, it's more like a friend hug.
She makes me feel like one of the family... which makes me feel guilty... mum doesn't deserve this, i need to make sure she knows she's still the most important thing to me.
