Scrambling to grab a flashlight and a small bag that you load with some essentials, you rush back into the living room, feet sliding against the hardwood floor in your haste. You didn't want to turn away for a second and have the portal somehow disappear.
Holding on tightly to your flashlight, you quickly crawl through the bright purple and blue portal, feeling anxious to reach the other side. Any hesitation you held before was replaced by excitement, with adrenaline pushing you forward toward another adventure.
You suddenly hear a small meow from behind you and look over your shoulder to see Beomgyu's cat, who begins to follow you through the portal. "Sorry buddy, but I should probably do this alone," you say as you softly push him back again and again, but every time you try to keep him away, he just comes sauntering back over to you. It appears that he's dead set on following you through the tunnel, so you let him be. There's nothing dangerous about where you're going anyway, and you suppose you wouldn't mind some company from your new furry friend.
You finally reach the end of the portal with a wide smile, happy to be back in a place where you finally feel at home. You begin to take a deep breath in, itching to get a taste of the fresh night breeze, but almost choke when your peaceful state is interrupted.
"You shouldn't be here," a deep voice says.
Startled, you quickly turn around, but you're brought to an abrupt halt when your face hits a hard chest. With a hint of fear, you slowly start backing away. When you summon enough courage to look up, you lock eyes with a man who certainly wasn't there two seconds ago. You would say that he's a stranger, but there's something oddly familiar about his eyes, one green, and one blue. It's then that you notice the set of black cat ears that sit atop his head of jet-black hair and the long tail swaying behind his back. His arms are crossed as he looks at you disapprovingly, but all you can do is stare, eyes widened in shock.
It's impossible, you think to yourself. However, in this world, isn't anything possible? In the time you had spent here, you had already experienced things you never could've imagined, so was this really that far-fetched?
"Beomgyu's cat?" you ask with a slightly shaky voice, still in disbelief that the man in front of you had been a cat just a minute ago. It's not that you were scared necessarily, but this definitely wasn't something you experienced every day so your mind was going a little bit haywire.
"I much prefer Yeonjun, but I guess that's what you know me as, yes," the boy confirms.
"Oh okay." You nod with a small gulp, trying not to appear overly startled. "You don't seem as shocked as I am about what just happened. Do you regularly turn human?" you question the boy...cat?
"It's not my first time visiting this place, I come and go as I please," he says with a turned-up nose. "So yes, you could say that I'm quite used to this transformation by now."
In your state of shock, you quickly spurt out a string of endless questions. "I just don't understand. How long have you known about this place? Do you come here often? Does Beomgyu know? Are you more human or more cat?"
"So many questions," Yeonjun complains as he waves his hand at you in dismissal. "I know all of this must come as a shock to you, but we really do have more pressing matters to discuss, such as what exactly it is that you're doing here," he says with a brow raised in accusation.
"What? Why's it so bad that I'm here?" you ask him innocently. You then consider how he was quite the hypocrite for scolding you when he had just admitted to traveling to this place himself, and you become a bit more defensive. "You just said you've been here before, and from the sounds of it you come here often," you defend yourself while crossing your arms, mimicking Yeonjun's accusing stance.
