As expected, you wake up in your real room, but that does nothing to dampen your good mood. You're certain that the other world is real now, and the promise of your return is enough to make you cheerfully jump out of bed. You hum happily to yourself as you walk down the stairs and over to the kitchen table where your dad is currently sitting with his morning coffee.
Taking notice of your improved attitude during breakfast, your dad is sure to comment on it. After all, it's not every day that he sees you wearing a smile over your morning bowl of cereal. "You're sure in a good mood today."
"I had a good dream," you explain while smiling to yourself. You figure it'd be best if your parents didn't discover the little world you were sneaking off to. Besides, a little white lie never hurt anyone.
"Well you should have good dreams more often," he teases.
You lightly smack his arm at his comment while you both give a soft laugh. You return to your respective meals as you begin to daydream about what you're going to do when you get back to the other world. Your overactive imagination conjures up all sorts of otherwordly things your other mother could have in store for you and your body practically shakes with anticipation.
You had carefully planned your expedition for when your parents would be out of the house. It wasn't uncommon for you to wander off on your own, but you didn't want your parents to raise any alarms if they noticed you'd been missing for too long.
After what feels like hours of you impatiently waiting, your parents finally leave for work. You gather some stuff together for your journey and make your way over to the familiar little door. Moving quickly through the tunnel, it's not long before you reach the other side.
Your button-eyed mother is sitting on the couch in the living room and catches you crawling your way out of the portal. Setting down the book she was reading, she greets you with a smile. "Welcome home honey."
You smile at her, but what she said has you thinking. Home? Not once had you considered this place to be home. It was certainly fun and a great escape from reality, but that's all it was, a temporary escape. Such as with books, dreams, movies, and the like, it was something that allowed you a moment to not have to think about the real world. That being said, you always had the intention of coming back to where you came from, your real house with your real family. You brush off your lingering thoughts and focus your attention back on your other mother.
Noticing you looking at her expectantly, she goes on to tell you what you'll be doing for the day. "Taehyun and Soobin are going to be putting on a big magic show for you. You're going to love it," she says while gesturing excitedly with her hands. "Their shows are certainly something special."
A magic show? The only magic shows you had been to in the past had been full of lame gimmicks, but despite your previous disappointments, you knew that this performance would be unlike any other.
"I left an outfit upstairs for you to wear to the show, how about you go and try it on? I know it'll look beautiful on you," your mom gushes with a warm smile.
You nod with excitement and head upstairs, glad to return to your better bedroom.
Laid out on your bed is the most beautiful dress that you could only dream of getting the opportunity to wear. It was the perfect combination of extravagant yet comfortable, and you run your fingers over its smooth material in complete awe. In this world, your mother seems to know you like the back of her hand.
Eagerly slipping on the outfit, you admire yourself in the full-length mirror hanging on the back of your closet door. You're donning a white mid-length dress with straps that are each tied into a neat bow that sits atop your shoulders and a set of lacy flats to match. The bottom half of your dress has a slight poof to it, and you notice how it elegantly floats around you as you give a small twirl. You're surprised when you notice how the dress seems to have a magical shimmer that causes it to almost look like it's moving even as you're standing still. Your silver necklace is accentuated by the neckline of your dress and serves as the perfect centerpiece of your ensemble.
