Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. The sound of the alarm filled the dark room where Sydney was sleeping in her bed, hidden underneath her blue silk sheets. The woman couldn't help but to groan as she slowly woke up from her sleep. In her opinion it was way too early to be getting up at 6am on a Sunday.
If it was for her, she would stay asleep until the late afternoon but she knew that she could not do that. Thanks to her mum, she's got yet another event to attend. As if the event from the day before was not enough already.Wasn't like Sydney could complain though. There was no way she could get out of this or her mum would not be acknowledging her for weeks. It was not like Sydney was going to be spending much time with her mother anyway.
It wasn't like Kate, her mother, stayed in one place for long anyway. Sydney was certain that the woman would be jetting off to Ibiza or once the event was over. It would not surprise the young woman at all.
It had always been like that. Ever since Sudney could remember, her mother had been travelling the world. Sometimes with Sydney in tow but other and most of times without. There had been times were she'd appreciated getting to see all these places, but at one point, she'd started taking it for granted. It wasn't anything special anymore. She just had to ask for it and hours later, she'd be in that next city. That was how her world worked.
If you were not used to anything else, you didn't think of it as abnormal or strange until...well...someone taught you what was actually important in life. Sydney would be meeting that special person at some point too even if she didn't believe in love.
She'd dated people before of course. She'd had her fair share if one night stands too but the problem was that she didn't allow herself to feel. She didn't open up which lead to issues. Let's just say, the young woman was not the best at communicating. Maybe, because she'd been used before. Her name and status were something people were after. Not all of them but some.
It was something, she hated and highly disliked but she rolled with it. She had decided that fitting in and getting some perks -like being invited to high end parties- was something she really did enjoy. Why not roll with it? She was certain that everyone would go with it. It would be stupid not to.
She might as well have fun and meet people and enjoy her life. She was going after all. She could live her absolute best life. After all, what Sydney had, was what many other people dreamed of. Still, it didn't change the fact that sometimes she wahres out. Not that she would say that out loud. That'd be silly and she'd get an earful from her mum too. That was the last thing she needed.
Sydney was about to fall asleep again, when a loud knock on the door startled her. Carlos. Her bodyguard and personal assistant. Her mum had hired him for her. Sydney was sure that it was just a way for her mum to keep an eye on her and to be able to control her from afar. That thought made her roll her eyes. Sydney didn't think that she needed a personal babysitter. However, she knew that if she said something, her mum would just start an argument. That was something Sydney wasn't in the mood for. She never was.
" Miss Moss? We must to leave in 10 minutes. Otherwise, you will be late for your flight." The bodyguard said, his deep voice sounding a little muffled through the door, but it was still fairly loud. She wondered if he'd woken up any other people on her floor. Wasn't like she felt bad for them though.
If she had to get up, they could get up too. With a soft groan, Sydney climbed out of her bed and once she was stood up, she stretched out, causing her bones to pop. " Right Carlos! I'll be ready. See you in the lobby." she answered and made her way into the bathroom. She brushed her teeth and brushed her hair and applied some light make up. She couldn't be bothered to do more. She'd shower in the next town over anyway. She'd got her make up done there as well. So, it wasn't really a big deal. Once done with her make up, she put a sage green sports bra on as well as a pair of black sweats. She paired it with a pair of vans and that was her outfit for the day. Casual and comfy for the flight.
Sydney put her Gucci sunglasses on top of her head, three her leopard print jacket on, and applied some perfume. Once she'd done that, she was truly ready. She glanced at her phone to check the time, shrugging when she realised d she'd taken five minutes longer than she had intended to. It was fine, she'd deal with that. Knowing Carlos, they had more than ten minutes anyway. He just liked to put a bit of pressure on her to get her to move. That was smart of him, she thought.
The young woman grabbed her bags and made her way out of the room, closing the door behind her. She headed towards the elevator that was located down the hall from her room. The brunette pressed the button to call for the elevator. When she realised that the elevator was on the 15th floor, whilst Alexa was on the and 20th herself, she decided to use that little spare time to snap a quick selfie for her instagram story. The young woman typed "bye Berlin, see you later London," then posted the picture. She looked good enough.
It didn't take long for the reactions to fly in. People replying to and liking her story. She loved the compliments. Sydney couldn't get enough of it. Perhaps, she was a bit of an attention whore. Nothing wrong with that, right?
A Ping announced the arrival of the elevator and the doors opened right after. Sydney stepped in, pressed the button for the ground floor, followed by the button that would close the doors. She leaned against the metal wall and closed her eyes, not opening them until she heard another ping a few seconds later. She looked over at the display which showed a bright orange G, letting her know that she was on the ground floor.
She stepped out and walked towards Carlos who was standing in the middle of the lobby." Ma'am. You're-" He started to say but Sydney cut him off before he could even finish. " I know that I'm late. It's fine. We'll make it in time." With that, she turned away and walked towards the exit, missing the eye roll Carlos gave her. Not that she would have cared.
She could have quite the attitude at times. She greeted the driver that was waiting for her and handed her bags over before she got into the back of the car. She was really excited to be going back to London, especially because a new chapter would be starting for her as well. A chapter that excited her. She hadn't felt excited in a long while, but this time she was. She relaxed against her car seat, scrolling through her instagram and barely acknowledging Carlos as he got i to the car too. She just heard him confirm with the driver that the airport was their destination.
