Winter Cometh

"Kat, I'll be out of the house more often in this season as I tend to travel during winter to help close out the year" my boss said and I instantly got nervous. How would I get paid!? He seemed to sense this though as he held my chin up so I was looking directly into his eyes.

"I still need the house cleaned up though, so I'm going to give you a key to the house. Just come in and do your normal job and I'll keep paying you as normal. Understood?" He had recently taken to being a bit more physical, it was nothing bad though just little stern touches.

"Yes sir" I responded and smiled as he let me go. When I told Lucia she suggested I throw a party while he was gone. When I told Angela she suggested I take a picture when I arrive and leave so he knows I was actually there.

The season started getting colder as winter set in and soon the break began. Which was more lonesome than I thought it was going to be. Angela & Lucia both headed back home to spend the break with their families, meanwhile the boss was off traveling on business.

"You aren't going to see your family" I asked May who laid on her bed reading. "No, they don't like me" she respond absent mindedly. I frowned, yea my parents apparently didn't like me either. Both my parents seemed to think I had worn out my welcome long ago in their household.

"Hey why don't you come with me to work" I asked May, honestly just craving company. I hated being alone. "I'll ask my boss if it's ok." May faced me with a simple smile "oh well if it's ok than sure, I'll join you."

I texted my boss asking if it was ok to bring a friend who was alone during the break so we could keep each other company. "If you trust her than absolutely, I want to make sure you feel as comfortable and happy as possible" he responded back and I found myself blushing slightly. He could be so weird at times.

I told May and we both got setup in our winter coats before heading out. May wore a rather heavy looking black leather jacket, her dark purple hair poking out from the hood and her hazel eyes peering out at me. She honestly looked rather cute in her big coat.

I for one went with a white jacket, matched better with the snow anyways. We took the Uber over and I gave May a grand tour. She seemed really impressed with everything in the house "geez this place is massive" she mused.

I shrugged, "wait until you see where Angela or Lucia live." May looked over at me seeming perplexed for a moment "why didn't you go with either of them?" I paused, honestly both of their families would have likely taken me in for the holiday.

"I um need the money" I said, and it was true, money was kind of important right now. "Money isn't everything you know. Good company is also important" May points out. I smiled at her "yea that's why I invited you to come with me" and noticed May blushed before quickly turning away.

"So um, why don't I help you out and we can finish up quickly" she says. "Oh! Wait, selfie" I take out my phone and May and I pose to send a picture to my boss and let him know we arrived. "Gorgeous" he responds back with a smiling face, I quickly put my phone away "ok lets get to work."

We finish cleaning rather quickly, the heater didn't even get to finish warming up the house by the time we were done. "Hey why don't I cook something for you? You normally have enough food for two here anyways right?" May suggested and I agreed, after all I was planning on cooking anyways.

I took off my jacket as the house got warmer and so did May. Now I could properly see her top was a mesh shirt, underneath she only wore a black sports bra. "You always wear the cutest outfits" I say and May almost dropped the pan in the sink as she tripped. "Oh no! The floor here is violent" she quicky joked and I laughed. "Also your humor goes under appreciated."

She turned away as she went to work feverishly working on cooking something meanwhile I was texting Angela who was apparently bored out of her mind. After some time though May finished up and served up the most beautiful meal I had ever seen. "Ok your definitely going to need to teach me how to cook that!" I exclaimed when I saw the food.

"It'll cost you" May winked as she sat down. We ate our fill of food and I washed the dishes for the two of us. "So we finished rather early. Do we leave or is there anything else we can do?" I noticed May looking at the Jacuzzi the boss had in an enclosed space. "Um I'm not sure" but before I could finish she took my hand and rushed forward.

She took off her shoes and socks, rolled up her legs and set them inside while sitting by the edge "oof now this feels nice." I giggled and followed suit, sitting down right next to her. "So I see you've been enjoying my job" I teased and May leaned her head on my shoulder.

"Your job does have it's benefit, honestly though the best part of today has really just been spending it with you." I couldn't help but blush, I would hardly call myself the most exciting person to be around. "I just feel at ease around you, ya know. Like I can say and do anything, your always super chill about people."

I looked down and saw May had closed her eyes. Hopefully she wouldn't fall asleep. But honestly right now, this kind of just felt right. So we sat at the jacuzzi relaxing for some time, sharing stories about school, and our childhood and just enjoying one another's company for a bit.

"We should probably head back now" I comment and May sighs. "I mean maybe" she says sounding like she really wants to stay. "We share a room, we can always cuddle at the dorm" I say with a smile.

May looked up at me, her eyes meeting mine, her cheeks red. "I um... Yea, that would be nice" she says, her eyes never leaving my own. "Although we might have to fight over who's bed to cuddle in" I said realizing we certainly had options in our dorm.

May suddenly pulled away and hopped out of the jacuzzi "yep, well we really should get going for now you know it's getting so hot in here and I just think we should maybe not burn up you know?" I giggled as I stood up "you always get so randomly flustered. It's cute" I said and May faced me, with that same look on her face again.

For a moment she looked like she wasn't sure if she wanted to move forward, towards me, or back away. "We should go" she finally said seeming to shrink down almost like she was deflating. I frowned uncertain of what had just happened but I gathered my things and we headed back to the dorm.

Once there May quickly rushed to the bathroom and closed the door. "So I guess no cuddling" I said softly speaking to myself as I crashed onto my bed. I was kind of looking forward to cuddling with May actually. Hopefully I hadn't done anything to upset her too much...
