Setting: Venice a public place Enter Bassanio with shylock the jew

Shylock and Bassanio have been negotiating prices. Shylock agrees to 3000 ducats for 3 months where Antonio is bound. Shylock knows Antonio has enough money but is worried about the harsh conditions put at sea where Anonios ships are

Bassanio invites Shylock to dinner with him and Antonio if Shylock is so worried but Shylock declines because it's against his Jewish costoms

Enter Antonio

Shylock has an aside moment and says how much he hates Antonio because he is Christian and because of his business. But treats him kindly when they meet
Shylock suddenly burst out calling Anonio out for all the wrong he has done to Shylock by spitting on him and calling him a dog.
Antonio becomes defensive and somewhat flustered being yelled at in front of his secret crush and says he would do it if given the chance.

Shylock then says they should just forgive and forget and agrees to lend his money free of interest but Anonio has to promise a pound of his flesh if he doesn't pay the money back within the three months
Antonio agrees to this while Bassanio protests and is concerned about Antonio's safety but Antonio reassures him
