CHAPTER FIVE
butterbear and detentions.
Surprisingly enough, Lily Evans accepted James' invitation to Hogsmeade. Aurora spent hours in their dorm room. Helping James pick an outfit, clothes messy, thrown onto the ground as James basically dove into his drawer, "No more clothes!" cried James. Aurora walked to Peter and asked him what he would think of a pair of slacks, turtle neck longsleeves, a maroon scarf (not the Gryffindor ones) and a black trench coat."Legend has it, Fleamont Potter invented Sleekeazy's Hair potion, but his own son — James Potter, could not use it." rambled Aurora as she charmed James' unruly curly hair. Then when the last charm was placed. Aurora brought her hand to slick back the hair.
It was windy, and she knew she couldn't go to Hogsmeade with them, who would fill up her permission slip? her father's ghost?
When the four were finished rambling about how to not be too much, James obediently nodded, Odd. Aurora picked up a scarf before they went down to the grounds. Professor McGonagall was there, taking student's permission slip. Aurora stopped by McGonagall's side. Letting the boys walk on.
But the nervous James noticed she wasn't there — he needed emotional support, a girl one so she would know what's too much and what's not, but it seemed that their dear Rory wasn't coming. "Whatcha doin' there, Sunny?" the Potter boy asked. His hand picking on everything but his hair.
"Can't, forgot to send my permission slip to my father," The girl gave him an encouraging smile, "You can do it! Rem, make sure you boys don't end up drinking Butterbeer with a crying James," Although confused — the boys nodded.
The Professor turned to her, some emotion in her eyes, "Six years and i haven't seen you walk in Hogsmeade." The woman said, her glasses on the crook of her nose, Aurora just smiled and excused herself before going to the Black Lake.
She had already finished her missing school works and had nothing to do, seeing Pandora, a Slytherin she had once bumped into, had recently got into a relationship with a Ravenclaw, Xenophilius Lovegood. Chatter filled her ears, when she turned around, she saw two girls walking her way, they weren't wearing house robes but she assumed they were Hufflepuffs.
"Hello!" The redhead girl said, not asking if the seat it taken, she quickly sat down beside the girl — the brunette she was with followed quickly. Aurora smiled at the two, "Hello," she said. Not knowing how to keep a conversation going.
The boys were another talk, they kept on talking and talking, Aurora never really needed to save the conversation. "My name is Ophelia, she's Bethany." The redhead motioned to the other girl, then Aurora offered them her hand, "I'm Aurora." Instead of shaking her hand, Ophelia intertwined it with hers and squealed, quickly hugging her.
"Oh," Aurora breathed, causing Bethany to laugh. Joining in the hug — as odd as it was to embrace a stranger who you just met, Aurora liked cuddles, she liked giving them. And she never knew how much she needed them. Without knowing it, little tears sprung from her eyes.
Ophelia pulled away and saw the tears, "Oh no, did I do that!? I didn't mean to scare you!" comforted the girl, but Aurora just shook her head, "I'm sorry — you never know how much you need a hug until you get one," she said in a funny tone although her voice still breaking. Bethany scooted closer, "We heard what happened."
Surprised, Aurora looked up, she hasn't told anyone! How could they possibly know? As if reading her thoughts, Bethany spoke.
"We live around the block, we heard about an Alison passing and we remembered an Alison from Hogwarts, we didn't know if it was you, the girl we always saw coming out of the house with bunch of trash. But we took our chances." Bethany said in a comforting tone.
"When you said coming out of the house with bunch of trash, do you mean my clothes or the trash-"
Ophelia burst into giggles, "I'm sorry — wrong timing!" She quickly brushed herself off. "Why aren't you in Hogsmeade?" asked Aurora, Bethany sighed. "We were on our way. We just wanted to offer our condolences." Ophelia answered, after a good two minutes of talking, the two bid their goodbyes and went on her way.
Though Aurora did not doubt that Remus will look out for the boys, she desperately needed to see them okay for herself, so when McGonagall wasn't looking, she ran to the High Street of Hogsmeade, where the shops where. Aurora was thinking if Lily and James decided to be in Madame Puddifoot's Tea Shop but seeing as Lily also did not like the pink colored tea shop. She assumed they were just at Honeydukes.
Aurora noticed that she had forgotten her red scarf in the Black Lake, hugging herself as the coldness swept in. They walked to Honeydukes, the bell rang when she opened the door. Her eyes immediately scanned the room for her friends. Then Sirius bumped into her on his way to get his coat, his eyes fixated on Lily and James' table.
The radio in the shop turned on, a familiar tune catching Aurora's attention — a muggle song, Fallin' In Love by Joe Frank started playing.
Aurora then went to sit with her friends, talking to them to try and not get them to stare at James and Lily like freaking idiots. When she was getting up to get herself a drink, a girl from the other table bumped it her, spilling Butterbeer all over her shoulder. Her friends gasped a bit, though quiet. The girl apologized loudly but Aurora quickly covered her mouth. Not wanting to ruin James' moment with Lily. But the girl won't shut up so Aurora mindlessly charmed her voice away.
Thankfully, she had a longsleeve turtle neck underneath together with a jumper dress. Aurora told her other friends to meet her inside the castle and that she needed to change. Running to the door, she took off her sweater. It was wet and sticky. When she tried to sneak back to the Black Lake to get her scarf. McGonagall saw her.
"Miss Alison!"
The girl closed her eyes, biting her lower lip in the process. She's screwed.
