It was raining, which is normal for this time of year, but not in this quantity. The view through the metal-barred windows evoked the mood of a horror film from the 1990s, and the storm made this business even more gloomy than it appeared on sunny days. Rosecliff Mental Institution was established in 1820 as a hospital for individuals who had no one to care for them. Something akin to a nursing home, but for people of all ages. The purpose of this institution has evolved over the years; at one point, it was a correctional center for young delinquents who committed small offenses but could not be imprisoned since they were under the age of 18.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ I tremble just thinking about what could have happened here before the new laws and generation. I believe everyone is aware of what was done at such institutions; practically every horror film follows that template when it comes to such sequences. Creepy. Rosecliff is also surrounded by forest, and there is a walking trail, but only a tiny fraction of patients have the opportunity to go for a walk or be taken for a walk because they can escape. What the hospital manager is not concerned about is that they can get away but that they will become lost and die without access to water or food. Wild creatures, such as wolves, were not banned, especially because it is mating season and they are roaming the forests looking for a female to mate with.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ I interned here since my sophomore year of college, and despite the fact that I was majoring in nursing, injuries were few due to the excellent supervision of all patients. So my job entailed a variety of tasks, not the least of which was cleaning up wounds and bandaging patients. I did not grumble about my job, and I absolutely helped people even if they were not aware of it or did not want it - I was still there and patient with all of them. I preferred working with people who had a troubled past because they are more likely to cause harm to others, even though there were guards on every corner and everyone was watching what was going on. Nobody would go undetected in this place.
