Travis had been awake for three days and his recovery was going as expected. He stayed off the vent and he stayed conscious, which was fantastic news, and his speech was also slowly getting better.

After Dr. Shepherd had come back from her trip and was really pleased with the progress that he had made, she decided that the drain and the ICP could come out as she was satisfied there were going to be no more surprises. He still remained on the BP medication and probably would for a while, at least until he could start being active again.

With the removal of the drain came the discharge from the ICU to a regular hospital room. He was getting stronger and stronger every day and didn't need 24/7 supervision which was amazing to hear. Vic shed a few tears as he was rolled away from room 2207, into the elevator and along to a regular ward. He was housed in room 2906 where he would stay for probably two weeks or so until he was well enough to be discharged. He really wanted to get out of that place and sleep in his own bed, and he could also tell that Vic was struggling with him being in the hospital for that long too. Hospitals had never been her favourite place in the world, but especially after the pipeline explosion, she really hated them from then on.

Of course, she could've always gone home but she didn't want to go back to their place without Travis. It always felt empty without him there.

Vic liked being at the hospital with Travis, and he liked her being there with him too.

Probably an hour or so after rounds had come and gone, Travis had a visitor. He heard a knock on the door and in came Ben, fresh from his trip to Boston.

"Hey, man, how you doing?" He asked, walking closer to his teammate, taking at the heart monitor as he came to sit down in the empty seat next to his bed. He couldn't help checking his vitals, being a doctor would forever be in his blood.

"You know, I'm getting there." Travis shrugged, feeling so antsy and frustrated with how slowly things were progressing. He wanted out. "How was your trip?"

"Miranda won a Catherine Fox award!" Ben beamed, pulling out his phone to show him the various pictures of the award, of them both at the awards ceremony and of Boston. He was like a proud parent showing off his child to all his family at a family event.

"Hey, that's amazing!" He was so happy for his friend - Travis knew that when he found out about Dr. Bailey's clinic and all the crucial work she had been doing to make reproductive health a priority, at least at Grey Sloan, would have been a massive hit. For her to get this amount of recognition, an internationally-renowned award as prestigious as the Catherine Fox award, it made him so proud to be a friend of Miranda Bailey.

Ben and Travis ended up having quite a long conversation. Ben apologised for not coming back to see Travis sooner, but because of all the publicity that Miranda had to do in Boston, he figured he wanted to stay to support his wife, which Travis didn't mind. After all, he had Vic every step of the way, along with the majority of his team coming to visit as well. Theo (and Kate) hadn't stepped foot once in his room, but maybe that was for the best. If they and Vic happened to be in the same room, something would probably kick off.

Travis's parents had also come to visit him and Nari promised to cook some of her spicy beef soup as soon as Travis got out of the hospital for him and Vic so she didn't have to worry about cooking.

"How's Vic? Is she here?" Ben asked, looking around. She had spotted a few of her things in the room so he figured she was a regular visitor.

He earnt an 'are you serious' look from Travis as if his question was completely stupid.

"Okay, that answers that. Has she gone home at all?" He then asked another question which he also definitely knew the answer to but wanted to hear the account from her best friend.
