"Goodmorning, students!" Mr. Moore spoke with a smile.
"I will take roll and then we will be taking a pop quiz!" He added. Groans could be heard all over the room.
Mr. Moore called out students from down the list.
"De'Jean Brooks?" He called out.
No answer.
"Hmm." The teacher wrote an A beside his name.
'Weird.' Ni thought in her head. Of course as soon as they have something planned, he bails.

Tanija sighed and put her head down for the remainder of class.

The bell rung for lunch and everyone scattered out of Math 4.
Tanija made her way to the cafeteria and sat beside her brother.
"Wassam." His friends sat down at the table with them.
"Hey, junebug." Ni smiled at the tall dark skin sitting in front of her.
"Yoo." Junebug smiled back at her.
"Y'all trynna slide to the 'Ville right quick?" Von looked around.
"Shi, hell yeah." Darius responded, getting up from the table.
"Cmon." He tapped his sister to get up too.
They walked out the cafeteria glass doors and followed Von to his challenger.
"How the hell we all fitting in this lil ahh coupe?" Darius scrunched his face up.
Ni and Junebug laughed.
"Nigga, get in." Von said getting into the drivers seat.
Darius smacked his lips and let down the passenger seat. "Ain gon lie, y'all gettin in the bike."
"Hell naw, ian gon fit back there." June shook his head.
"Man, damn!" Darius smacked his teeth and crawled in the backseat.
Ni got in the backseat beside Darius and June lifted the seat back up.
"Where we going anyway." June said as he got in the car.
"Nigga, shut up and be glad you ain't sitting in class witcho big husky ahh." Von laughed and pulled out of the school parking lot.
Tanija ignored them and tapped her phone to see no new notifications. She wasn't worried about anyone but Dejean.
