Luna awoke one autumn morning, wondering what gifts mother had prepared for her 15th birthday today. She opened the curtains of her windows, gazing upon the streets of Mansfield, her mother's own city. Luna loved Mansfield with all her heart, but she would never want to be queen of the lovely city. She was first in line for taking over the throne when her mother would eventually die, so Luna hoped her mother would live long enough so she didn't have to rule over the city herself for that long. Luna slid out of her bed and put on her morning gown. "Miss Luna?" Called a voice from outside her large room. "You may enter, Eleanor." Said Luna softy. The door slowly opened and a women dressed in a maid outfit walked in. She was kind of short for todays standards, but tall for a women in the 16th century, maybe about 5'5 feet tall, and quite plump. She was no more than 20 years old and had a cute face.

"What have you come to me for, Eleanor?" Asked Luna in a kind tone. "Your mother the queen has requested you come to the dining hall for your birthday breakfast and the grand reveal of your birthday present." Said Eleanor nervously. Eleanor had been Luna's personal maiden ever since the princess had turned 6, but she was still very shy in front of people of high authority. "Ok," said Luna softly, "let us head down there now."
Luna looked quite short next to Eleanor, being only 5'2 feet tall, (this was the average height of women during the 16th century) as they walked down the hall into the grand dining room. Eleanor quickly scurried out of the way as Queen Edith came over to Luna and gave her a hug. Edith was a bit taller than Luna, about 5'4 feet tall, and skinny. She had luxurious, dirty blonde hair with blue eyes and a beautiful face.

"Luna, darling," began Edith, "I have an amazing present prepared for you, but first we will have breakfast." Edith turned around and pointed at the dining room table. "Our servants have prepared a very special breakfast, there is bread, there is chicken, there is pig, there is basically any food you can think of darling." The dining table was very long, and it usually only housed Luna and Edith. Edith sat down on her dining throne which sat at one end of the table, while Luna sat at the other end on her smaller throne.
Luna placed a piece of chicken, a couple slices of bread with butter, and some salad onto her plate. Even though there was so much food, Luna and Edith barely ate a fraction of it, the rest of it going to their slaves, most of which, were quite chubby because of it. Edith didn't eat much food because she wanted to stay thin and beautiful, encouraging her daughter to do the same. This was one of the reasons Luna didn't eat much, but she also just didn't like much of the food.
Speaking of Luna's looks, she had golden hair, blue eyes, a kind and beautiful face, and a curvy figure, which was why Luna was spoken about so much, nearly as much as her mother.

Luna quickly finished her breakfast and waited for her mother to do the same. After they had both finished Luna got up from her chair and followed Edith down some stairs, through a hall and out of the gates of the castle. Luna hadn't been outside the castle much, especially in the cold autumn weather. Just outside the castle sat a small cottage. "That, my darling," said Edith, "is your present." "What is it?" Replied Luna, confused. "It's a store, darling." Said Edith, "It contains some new food that has recently been imported to us." "And what food is that?" Asked Luna. "Let's just go inside and I'll show you."
