Mari house

Mari was looking at Aubrey.
Aubrey was muttering while looking down. They just came back from Basil's house and Aubrey was clearly consumed by guilt and regret.
Mari moved her hand to pat Aubrey's shoulder, trying to comfort her.

Aubrey looked up to her. Before beginning to talk.

-"I'm a monster aren't I? What if Hero couldn't find Kel? What if you couldn't swam them both back up?" She hiccuped. Mari came closer.

-"Kel and Hero were so cold! It's all my fault! I'm so sorry- I just - I wanted to help but I just made things WORSE!" She began ugly crying.
Mari offered her a hug and Aubrey didn't need to be offered twice. The two of them sat there and for a minute, Aubrey felt like her 12 years old self again. Holding onto Mari, resting in the comfort she brought. Aubrey always saw Mari as a mother figure. Now, in her embrace, in the comfort Mari brought her, Aubrey felt at peace, she felt good.
After a long time, Mari ended the hug. Aubrey was no longer crying.
Suddenly she remembered something, looked at Mari.

-"The album! I saw it at Basil's house! Maybe we can ask Basil to see it together! The five of us, I know I messed up but I could apologize to them!"
She seemed excited and reluctant at the same time, weird.
Mari though about it before Aubrey began talking again.

-"Should I ask Basil? Clearly not today tho.." Now she looked was again. Mari looked at her before saying a quiet "yes".

Aubrey smiled before asking to stay the night to Mari who said yes.

Hours later

Mari was shaking has her grip on the stairs trails got stronger.

Your fault
It whispered.

All your fault.
Mari felt something behind her back.

Mari? Don't you love me? Am I not your l̉͟͜҉̷̣̜ι͇̊̀т̵̨̜̙̳̖̽͞т̷̨̩̬̦̝ͬͫ́͡͝ḻ̴̡̹̺̩̞̒̌́͟͢ę̢̮͊͑͝ в̶̷̶̺̖͇̬͆ͧŗ̩̻̟̆̕͟ő̶̱̯͖̾͢͡т̢̜̰̲̇̂ͮͩнͦͭ҉̶͎̬̱̀͘e͛ͪ͏̧͇͡ŗ̮̘̽̋͆͌  anymore?
No..go away.. you're not  ̶H̶i̶m̶

She gasped for air as the stair became longer, how could stair get longer??

Stupid. Useless.

-"Stop it.." she whispered, trembling.

You deserve nothing. You're not good enough. Your fault they're suffering.

-"no.."

Your fault. Why would you do that? He loved you Mari. ̵̹̹̹S̷̵̷̹̹̹̹͑u̵̷̵̵̹͑͑͑n̷̵̵̵̵̹̹͑n̷̷̵̷̹̹̹͑y̵̹͑͑  loved you.

Mari run to her room has something made noise downstairs.

Hero and Kel's house

The morning after the lake incident

Hero sat at his desk. He was anxious since he came home the day before, from what Basil said, Kel could ask to see him at any moments, and it would be his chance to make up for everything.
He cracked another pencil before hearing his mother call him, apparently, someone was at the phone for him. He rushed downstairs, nearly snatching the phone from his mother.

-"Hello??" He asked.

-"Meet me at the park. In 10 minutes"

-"Kel? Are you-"

The sound of the line ending made him knew Kel had hung up. But that didn't really matter, Kel wanted to meet him. In ten minutes. So he quickly got upstairs changing his clothes before rushing downstairs once again, getting his shoes on.
