Sleeptalking

It was Chaeyoung's third year of college. But it was the first time she was living on campus. The decision came after her parents decided to move to another city for work. It only made sense then for her to live on campus so that she wouldn't have to spend on travelling back and forth every day.

It was her first day, and the excitement of first days was always something she enjoyed. Only today, she was anxious. She had requested a dorm room by herself. She didn't want a roommate. But her request came in too late and she had to settle for having a roommate.

"It can't be all that bad," she told herself.

She just hoped that her roommate would not be homophobic. Because Chaeyoung was hella gay. She was also intersex, and that made a lot of people uncomfortable. It wasn't her job to make people comfortable though, so she didn't bother telling anyone unless it was a topic that really needed to be discussed.

To her fortune or misfortune though, half of the students in the college already knew she was intersex. Things like this always got around. She didn't mind it at all. As long as no one treated her differently for it.

She strolled down the hallway and stopped in front of a door. She looked at the number and then at the paper in her hands. Room 69, she smirked. She took out her keys to unlock the room when the door swung open. She looked up and her eyes caught sight of the girl who was supposedly her roommate.

"Chaeyoung, hi!" The girl greeted. She knew her name. "I'm Sana, she reached out her hand, I know you because I write for the college paper," Sana finished.

Chaeyoung played football for the college team, so more people knew her than she cared to admit.

"Hi, nice to meet you," Chaeyoung said as she shook her hand.

"Mina, your roommate's here!" Sana called back and then said, "I gotta, go, I'll see you around," and with that, she made her way down the hallway.

"Mina" Chaeyoung repeated in her head. She hadn't heard the name before. As she grabbed her bag and walked into the room, a brunette girl who was maybe an inch or two shorter than she approached her.

"Hi, you must be my roommate, I'm Mina. I'm very new here." Mina said.

"Chaeyoung. It's nice to meet you," Chaeyoung said, shaking Mina's hand.

"I hope you don't mind, I settled in on this side of the room," Mina said as she pointed towards the bed that was closer to the door. The other bed was closer to the window, so Chaeyoung really didn't mind it one bit.

"That's alright, I'm not picky," Chaeyoung said and offered a soft smile.

"Great! So Sana seems to know you," Mina said, trying to make conversation as she plopped down on her own bed and Chaeyoung dragged her trolley bag to her side of the room. Chaeyoung rubbed the back of her neck. "She does, but I don't know her personally, this was actually the first time we spoke," Chaeyoung said shyly.

"You must be famous then," Mina said with a smirk.

"Maybe," Chaeyoung answered, unsure if telling Mina she was the best player on their football team would come off as too boastful in their first conversation.
